My maiden name was Bier - meaning either the drink (beer) in German or the metal brace that holde up a coffin.

I have seen the last name: "Olazabal."
My last name means: "son of Rodrigo" and comes from Spain.

My last name (Amorim) comes from Portugal, too. It means a kind of peach, called in old times 'amerim'. The name came originally from latin.

I have a friend whose last name is Kraphol. He pronounces it like Craypole, but we'll all know what it spells.
I have no idea where it came from.
