I not sure if you every really know you are ready. I am a mother of one, and a month after I was married I found out i was pregnant. I was only 20 and going to be 21 when the baby was born. I just adjusted my life. Now she comes first and is the most important person to satisfy. I think other people know, when they are ready to have kids and talk about it. So I guess there is no real answer to this question..... But, you will be ready when that baby arrives.

When you are financially stable, have insurance, have a loving relationship with another adult, have discussed with the other adult this decision and the repercussions of it.
Look you dont have to be rich, you dont have to "own" a home, but you do need to be able to provide a stable home and enough for the childs needs. And even if you didnt have insurance -well, neither did a lot of the moms who had babies in the past few years, you can do it if you want.

Love your baby.
Guide your baby
Teach your baby
These are the important things if you can do these then you are ready to have a baby!!

You know you are ready when you ache every time you see a child. You wish you had one to call your own with your husband. I waited 10yrs to have a child and now I have 2. They are a lot of work, but they are the most awesome thing ever to have in your life. My son is 19 months and he is sooo funny. Quite the ham. He loves people and life and makes me look at my own life in a whole new light. He inspires me to know that this is what life is all about...through his eyes. My daughter is 7 weeks old and she is so adorable. She sleeps a lot right now but when she awakens, she smiles and it just melts my heart. Babies are the best!!!

I was 24, when one day I told my husband "I want to start our family now. I'm ready". I had the first one by the time I was 25, the 2nd at age 28 and the 3rd when I was 30.
I don't know what happened to make me come to the decision but I just knew I was ready.

For me, it happened when I thought I might be pregnant, but then I found out I wasn't. I was actually really disappointed that I wasn't, and ever since then I can't stop thinking about babies and cooing over other people's children. I had always wanted to wait until my husband was done with school, but I told him when he is in his last semester to get ready to try for one. It has become this overwhelming urge I can't get rid of. The joys of womanhood, lol!

Emotionally or financially?

Financially ... geez, who ever said having kids was a financially sound decision! :)

Emotionally, well.. you decide: are you mature and responsible? Do you have stability in your life;work,home,finances,relationship....
OR are you trying to fill a void of sorts?

Be honest with yourself... Your body knows when it is ready, but it is up to you to determine if you are emotionally secure and confident and ready for something such as this! :)

I usually knew I wanted a baby when every infant that I saw made my heart flutter. I also knew, when the sweet baby scent was what I was longing to smell. Stuff like that....

I don't think you can ever be fully ready and prepared.
You figure it out as you go.
