The North Island has some good spots to check out.
Toupo, the Bay of Islands is nice you can swim with the dolphins, go for a cruise or jet boat ride. Go to the Waipou Forest they have the biggest kauri tree their, swim at Kai iwi Lakes it's so beautiful has 3 separate lakes to choose from whether you want a quiet time or company. Go horse riding along Bayleys Beach, is also the best surfing place, which is not far from a little town called Dargaville, which is the Kumara capital. It's also half an hours drive to Whangarei, you must go see the lion man.
If you like the city check out Auckland, there are heaps of things to do their, visit Sky city, shop till you drop, go to rainbows end, the zoo etc etc....
