I am fixing to get health insurance to be able to go see a doctor for my health problems and I'm choosing to go see a doctor of Internal Medicine because regular doctors that I've seen in the past haven't helped with my issues. These are the 3 problems I've had for years now (one is gross, sorry):
- chronic constipation
- severe anxiety
- (the gross one) persistent body odor
I feel the persistent b.o. is being caused by the chronic constipation becuz I've always been and continue to be a very clean highly hygienic person (shower daily, use deodorant, perfume etc) and this odor in turn is causing me to have the severe anxiety. I'm so embarrased and scared to be around people because of it. So one thing has lead to the other. Do you think an Internal Medicine doctor would be able to help me with all 3 of my issues?

It's worth a try. When our bodies become toxic b.o. can become a problem. It sounds like you need to try a good internal cleansing program. You can find one at any health food store. Sometimes excessive coffee or alcohol can make b.o. worse. Try fasting a few days with only water, this might help.

well he probably won't help with the anxiety, unless he can help you with the other 2 problems. I'm really not sure, but I highly doubt your body odor is caused from your constipation. Alot of times it is caused by bacteria...even if you are a clean person, try a good antibacterial soap like dial, or buy some Hibiclens..it's an antiseptic/ antimicrobial soap they use in hospitals, you can get it at drug stores, it is a little expensive, but it will kill any bacteria. As for your constipation, aside from eating prunes every day, my son had the problem and was prescribed Miralax (generic is GlycoLax) it worked well, but takes a few days to start working. However he still has the problem when he doesn't take it. Start drinking more water also it should help a little. Good luck!

A internal medicine doctor with specialty in gastroenterology would definately be a good choice for your constipation problem.
A psychiatrist would probably be better if you have severe anxiety.
As for the odor problem, I'm not sure, but if it's due to a medical condition then a doctor in internal medicine would be fine.

My recommendation. first ..see if you can get a gastrointerologist (internal medicine). your insurance my have you sign up for family practioner and be referred out.
the "oder" is difficult to pin point..to many factors that can play a part in that. some easy fixes, others not so easy.
gastrointerologist can help with the constipation, if the practioner is a gastro then he can also help you with all 3 of the above. gastros are doctors too. they just chose to specialize in that particular area of medicine.also with constipation. eat apples and other fruits. it has sorbitol a natural laxitive. theres also a drink you can get called magnesium citrate..be careful with it, and DO nOT go far from the house after taking

Well obviously I don't know you, but I can tell you the constipation is caused by stress (aka the anxiety) and your sweating smell is from what you eat. Unfortunatly they just took Zelnorm off the market (perscription) but I bought (over the counter) Myrilax and mix it in with my coffee when I get constipated (i have IBS) every day. The best over the counter deodorant is "Mitchem" (sp?). Good luck!!!

Prune juice is one of the better known natural laxatives. Prunes are not only high in potassium, Vitamin A, and iron, but they are also extremely high in both insoluble and soluble fibre. Prunes work efficiently and quickly as natural laxatives. Therefore, just a small amount of prunes is generally all it takes to relieve constipation.

Take a probiotic supplement which contain 4 billion active organism. 3/day.

None of your problems are "gross"...and they are all three quite common...but I think you are on the right track...hopefully the GI Dr will be able to help you with your chronic contispation...therefore aleviating the other two problems...a good bit of our collective health problems, stem from the GI tract...
You are doing, I think, the best thing you can do at this point.

Yes, and your probably right. One problem is compounding the other. It sounds like your body chemistry may be off a bit. This could make a lot of problems but, can be corrected. Your on the right tract.
