My hair is permed and I am African American. I got my hair permed on April 7th, 2007 and my mom saids she is going to perm it every 8 weeks to prevent breakage.
My hair is shoulder length. I want my hair to grow longer than that, though. How can I make my hair grow? I am only 12 and I have the longest hair in my family. My mom uses Mizani stuff in my hair. Please help!

if you can try braiding it, like in the summer or something, that makes your hair strong and gives it a break from the elements such as the sun, wind etc. i had the same kinda hair you have bout 2years ago and now its middle of my back length. also trim the split ends - i hate doing it - but it really does make your hair grow. Your mom is absolutely right to do it like that, i leave mine even longer 12 weeks! just make sure u condition it well, get it treated from time to time and by the time ur 16 it will be long long LONG!

Well, your first mistake used to be getting a perm. It turns out like a well notion to start with, however then issues continually come up. Maybe you might return to the salon and feature them loosen up the perm? Or purchase a flat iron and put on your hair immediately?

if you perm your hair every 2 months (8 weeks) your hair will become damaged and will cause MAJOR BREAKAGE. and yes your hair will grow.
i had my hair permed for the first time 10 years ago and my hair was weak afterwards. i had my hair permed a year later - my hair was even weaker afterwatds. after that, i decided to stop perming my hair

Take vitamins....I have permed hair and it grows fast.....but I have to start taking vitamins myself to help it grow faster.....and grease your scalp too.....make sure that you don't use alot of heat and harmful chemicals to your hair!!!

perming your hair doesn't make it stop growing- that's like saying coloring your hair would make it stop....
fear not your hair will grow- it'll just get dry

YEA YOU CAN GET IT PERMED EVERY 8 WEEKS B-CUZ I DO THE SAME! PS MAKE SURE YOUR HAIR IS NEVER DRY AND WRAP IT EVERY NIGHT B4 BED OK

It will grow so don't worry..the more you think of it, the longer it will take to grow, so just relax.
