He said that if ever we get to have a long and sweet relationship, and end up getting married, he's going to sing "Butterfly Kisses" (for his little girl and for the son-in-law he would be proud to have).

What's that supossed to mean?

He is sharing how he feels about his daughter with a man he sees as important in her life. Butterfly Kisses is corny and sweet- and a song that I heard for the first time a year after my dad died. I gotta say, I cried my eyes out in the grocery store parking lot!
My kids and I give each other "butterfly kisses"- you flutter your eyelashes against the other persons cheek. It feels like butterfly wings. And I think of that song every time now. If you can't tell, I miss my dad!

It means he wants to sing a song at your wedding. Butterfly Kisses is a very sweet song written by dad for his daughter.
Your Dad sounds like an OK guy.

If you ever do get to the marriage stage in your relationship, and there is a wedding, let him sing. One song. But make sure that he hasn't been drinking beforehand!

Its a beautiful song that has a lot of meaning behind it. Its about a father who loves his daughter, and any girl would love to have her father sing to her.

If you haven't heard the song, "Butterfly Kisses," it's about the cheesiest, corniest, piece of crap song I've ever heard. I suggest you listen to it (it's by Bob Carlyle), and decide for yourself if you hate it or not.

If you're like me and think it's a overly-sentimental ewwy-gooey song, then tell the dj at your wedding (whenever that may be) to put it on the "Do Not Play" list.

He wanted to say that: if your relationship is serious and for the rest of your lives, he is going to bring her daughter to your arms, and he will be a happy father in law, so showed him your love is forever!!!!
