I have been asked to take the wedding pictures for my husbands best friend. I am an amatuer photography, I am pretty good at taking pictures, just very nervous about the wedding beign at the beach. It is at 11:00 am, so I am worried it will be too bright outside. I have a digital Sony Cybershot DSC-W80/P, it isn't a Professional camera, but does that really make a difference?? I have talked to the bride and groom and they don't seem to particular about the pictures. Any help or advice on planning out the big day?

The more professional the camera, the better quality the pictures will be. If you don't know that, you shouldn't have taken this job. I suggest you do some major research on photography and lighting before going ahead with this. If you are really as uncomfortable as you seem, you probably shouldn't be doing it.

Don't worry about it if they don't seem too upset. I am an amatuer as well and what I would do is go to the beach they are getting married at if you can. Go at that time of day and take TONS of pictures and see how they come out. That way you will know if the pics will look good or not. You may be able to rent a camera too if yours does not adjust apperature and shutter speed for light contrasts. You will also know what shots look good in the sense of scenery and angle.

Be carefull, as a pro I know how a bride that seems not to care before will care in 2 years when she has nothing from her day. See if they will cover the cost of you to rent a pro camera like a canon d20 or d5 from your local camera store with a speedlite. Get it the day before and practice and that should help you make better quality pictures. With the camera you have it will be hard for the couple to have large pictures made. Get some books on wedding photography and practice!

take soem pictures during the wedding and alot after with family and stuff , maybe tell them that the pictures might not turn out as planned and ask them to change the location to a different spot on the beach maybe with less sun

You don't seem very confident on your ability...at the bare minimum, you need to hit the beach on a bight day and see what works for you...this is a one time thing, so the pix have to be great!

i would just tell them upfront that you arent really sure how the pics will turn out since its going to be so bright outside.. maybe you can find a shaded spot to take posed pictures after the ceremony...im sure they are just grateful that you are willing to do this for them.
