Waste of money. The fruit you will be making the jam with is packed full of natural pectin, esp. strawberries, plums, blackberries, etc. There is lots of pectin in fruit skins, apples etc turn out a nice red jam of you use red apples.

Follow the instructions but add nothing.

All you need for jam is the fruit of choice and ordinary sugar.

Cook the fruit until it is opaque.

Add the sugar and bring to the boil, stir a lot.

Pour into jars, then into the oven to finish off and close the lids.

You can sterilise your jars by this cheap method. Place the jars in your hot oven on a high heat with lids open and rubbers removed.

Happy jam making.
