I keep getting pains in the back and side of my head, this usually happens everyday. I have tried all sorts of approaches such as relaxation, and aromatherapy, and of course regular pain relieve medication but nothing seems to help. I know other possible ideas such as if there are any herbs I could take to relieve the pain?

Matthews you have tried many things,
try one more tonight, hopefully it will work.
Your pillow should not be soft, try hard pillow,
cotton stuffed, sleep on straight surface, like floor
or wooden cot without thick mattress.
There should not be gap between your neck and pillow.

If it helps, you may help others like you.

Good luck.

I looked at a bottle of Excedrin Tension once and the ingredients were simply pain reliever (like ibuprofen or Tylenol) and caffeine. So when I get a tension headache, I pop a couple of pain relievers and buy myself a Hershey bar. It does seem to help. Also, sometimes just getting out and getting some air helps. Good luck!

It does sound like a Tension Headache. I get these all the time. Sometimes a heat pack will help. If that doesn't do it try a ice pack-20 on and 20 off. I've never found a medication that worked for me. Relaxation techniques will also help a lot.

Studies showed an interesting result. Acupuncture eased tension and migraine headaches in the patients who underwent acupuncture as compared to those who received no acupuncture. But there was no noticeable difference in results between ‘real’ acupuncture and placebo acupuncture where needles were simply inserted into areas that did not have any benefit.

You could go to the store and get this lotion that is called Johnson's soft lotion, melt away the stress dreamy night lotion . Its with aroma soothe..... that really helps when you have a tension headache. You could take some Tylenol before you use it , then use that lotion and lay down for awhile and it helps .

There is no medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.
Acidity, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis,
Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy are their causes. None of them can be treated with medicine. Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.
Acupuncture is the best treatment. I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG(meditation), but how can you manage pl see.
Avoid late sleeping if possible;spicy, sour, stale bakery foods and alcohole.
Sweet foods, sweet fruits, milk, rice and good sleep will help you.
But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves' juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it isvery strong.

I get the same thing.
A hot shower, concentrated on the temples, eyes and ears does the trick for me.
If you haven't been to the dentist for a while, you should go for a check up - That might help.

This really works for me when I get those.....it's better if you have someone else do it but, you can do this yourself. Take your thumb and put pressure right at the top of your neck..basically where your spine meets your skull. Just hold it there.....my boyfriend has done that for me and I told him it felt better than sex! (haha) Good luck!!
