My boyfriend and I have been going out for just a few short months, but have been friends for years. I love him and trust him and all that good stuff. He and I are going to separate colleges in the fall. I know we'll be apart for three years unless one of us transfers schools... however, we will be visiting each other every chance we get on breaks and such. He wants to start a long-distance relationship and I'm all for it. What do you think about this? Do we stand a chance? The main reason I'm willing to give it a shot is because I don't want to lose what we have together.... he understands me like no one else does. Any experienced advice would be much appreciated.

If both of you are committed enough to make it work, then go for it. However, don't be surprised that it doesn't. I know this may not be what you want to read or hear. Long distance relationships seldom work on several fronts. The key word here is DISTANCE. Since you two will be separated from each other for long periods, there are going to be risks of you two meeting other people and growing apart as a result.

If you two decide to make a long distance relationship work, then you two better be utterly faithful and disciplined. Otherwise you two are destined to fail.

Long distance relatioships are tough, but since you guys have been friends for years it might be easier for you. Just dont become super jealous or protective, keep things nice and easy! If you trust him then things should be fine
