Most diseases are not curable. but they could be maintained with certain drugs. Somebody would die of heart failure in a month but thanks to several drugs ( or cocktails) they may be able to survive and have a pretty good standard of living for a long period of life. People with psoriasis don't necessarily die from it, but drugs help to ameliorate it or decrease the outbreaks. I could give you thousands of examples. All but some infectious diseases and some cancers are not-curable.
Believe me, I'm a dr. and in medical school a lot of people started thinking they would be able to cure people and what a disappointment when they realized most people cure themselves (like in a cold) or diseases are not curable.
Nevertheless, we can help patients a lot, for what I said before, we can help them have a better life and/ or prolong it. Doctors and medicines are here to help people live better, even with a disease on top of them.
It would be great to have medicines to cure more things, but how do you cure something that is dead, like a myocardial infarction in which part of the heart is already dead? You just help the heart behave as good as it can with that part missing, and that sometimes can only be achieved with medicines.
Hope it helps.

Pharmacies do not make drugs. They are merely the middle man. Pharmaceutical companies make drugs. From curing a simple infection to making a persons quality of life much better. And yes, unfortunately they are in the business of making money.

Well if i had a pharmaceutical company...i would make drugs that cure instead of just healing temporarily (this doesn't apply to all ailments...some are incurable)
By making drugs that heal temporarily, drug companies benefit, because people are more likely to keep buying to relieve their ailments, this in turn generates profit. Now on the other hand if they made drugs that cure ailments, how can they continue to make the obscene profits they are used to making. Their CEO's like getting the huge salaries and benefits.....people like me and you keep spending and the drug companies are quite happy with it.

tell me ONE curable thing for which a pharmacy ONLY provides medicine that gives temporarily relief.
You make it sound as if we want you to be sick in order that we can screw you out of more money.
You owe me and every other Pharmacist an apology. We help cure what we can, and help treat that which cannot be cured. We work to prevent further disease and ease suffering.

No matter how you do it, drugs leave your body. Most of them you urinate. You need a certain concentration for activity. I only know of one tablet which can last for a month, and that is for osteoporosis. It is actually considered a marvel of pharmacokinetics.
Most ailments cannot be cured. To lower blood pressure, you need to increase the diameter of the blood pressure or slow down the heart, etc. As soon as the drug leaves, its effect does to.

More money. Healing means the person no longer needs their drugs. Masking the symptoms temporarily means the illness becomes worse, so more drugs are needed.

Most drugs are made to mask symptoms not cure disease. Your body was made to cure most disease, if your mind can deal with the symptoms until that occurs. That is where prescription medication comes in.

Because they make money off it. And then, when it wears off, you take more of their medication. Eventually your bottleis empty and you have to go buy more, making them more money. It's a cycle, and the only ones that benefit from it are the pharmaceutical companies.

If it's an illness that can't be cured, they get your repeat business.
And, if it's an illness that CAN be cured, they STILL get your business.
And, that's the name of the game,...or business.

if they cured the illness rather than give you side effects which will require more pills (and more profit) than business would take a hit.
