Bake them in the oven instead of frying them. If you fry them the oil will mix with the gravy and may cause the gravy to seperate or get 'watery'.
My recipe
1 lb chopped beef
1/2 lb chopped veal
2 eggs
1/2 cup plain bread crumbs
1/2 teaspoon each of salt and pepper
brown gravy
Combine all ingredients, form into approx 1 inch balls and put on a cookie sheet. You can spray the sheet with non stick cooking spray.Bake for 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees. then in a 9x13 pan combine meatballs and brown gravy and bake an additioanl 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees.

1)You certainly can fry meatballs, Betty Crocker did. You put the meatballs in the pan and as they are frying, you gently shake the pan so they do not flatten on any side. 2)That's way too much work; baking them is much easier, they remain round, and if you leave them in long enough, you will have some drippings in the pan for gravy.

A little oil in the skillet over high heat. Brown them, but not cook them all the way. Shake the pan around a lot to keep them evenly browning. Then you can toss them in the gravy to finish cooking.
Trust me, I've screwed up many meatballs, and this is the best way.

My family loves meatballs and I always hated the job of frying them. It seemed like they constantly needed turning. Now I bake them in the oven at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes and them I drop them into the sauce or gravy. They are nice and brown and I didn't burn myself trying to keep them turned. Please give it a try.

You have to let them brown on one side and then turn them and repeat this process until all sides are browned, in a fry pan with oil. However, I like to put them on foil on a cookie sheet and bake them in the oven at 400 degrees for about 20 mins. or so. They stay rounder that way and are less greasy. Good eating!!!! :)

You can put them in some shallow oil and then fry them to till they are all brown or you can just put them in the pan or the cooking appliance you are using and brown it since it kind of has its own natural oil.

you can pan fry them in a skillet with little or no oil in the pan. the meat will make it's own grease. just turn them so they will brown on all sides. drain them on paper towels and then put them in the sauce when they are done and let it all simmer for 25 minutes or so.
