We are all "the immigrants" to the U.S. and here is nothing more sad in the US than to see an immigrant criticize other immigrants. The identity of the US is linked to our diversity and to our acceptance of immigrants. On the other hand, the US need more immigrants. For example, the white working age population is going to decrease in 5 million in the next 20 year. And who is going to replace those workers? Who will pay for their social security? Who will keep America growing? Immigrants.

We are all immigrants temporary guests in this world. In North America everyone is an immigrant including the Indians and Eskimos as they came from outside too.
The only difference is that the founding fathers of what is now called the USA form the most successful country in the world. That country is based on the rule of law. No it's not perfect as it is a human creation not God's. Still it is the best country in the world. I am not American but will oppose anyone who tries to destroy or compromise the USA by braking the law. We the people need America to succeed as a symbol of hope for humanity.

I am an American. And it sometimes gets to me that we have people in this country that claim African-Americanor Mexican American. But yet they were born here. Most know nothing of there heritage, but yet profess it.
My ancestors came here from Germany and Ireland. You do not see me saying that I am a German-Irish-American.
Dont get me wrong nothing wrong with being proud of where your roots come from. But if you dress, talk, and act American. You are American.Unless of course the problem we have now.Millions of illegals coming into this country and not helping out.I dont think any illegal immigrant from any country should be able to get welfare,Medicaid, and all of that crap on my dollar.I am a hard working American that cannot afford those luxurys. And yet I am expected to pay for theres.
Wake up if you dont want to be an American. Please leave because really we dont want or need you here.
I just wish these people would understand that when they are illegal they give nothing. They work for cash send money back home and in 20 years go home and live like kings. The whole time they recieve benifits for there familys pay no taxes and laugh at how stupid our government is.
I have no problem with anyone coming to this country legally. Then they can contribute just as I have to.
This country was founded on freedom for all races and people. But do it right.
After WW2 this country had over 6 million people flee here from other countries.90% of those people did it the right way.So they could proudly say I am an American. Now they come in illegally and say man these Americans are idiots.

Depends on whether or not you're asking about people who immigrated LEGALLY or ILLEGALLY.

Everyone is an immigrant to North America, depending on how far back in time you want to go. I'll assume you're talking about since after the Revolutionary War. In that case anyone who left a different country and moved to the US is an immigrant. Until very recently, immigrants to the US were expected to learn the language and customs of the US. Immigrants who did not were ridiculed. Immigrants followed our laws or were prosecuted.

Now it is considered racist to require people who crossed our borders ILLEGALLY to learn our language, follow our laws, learn our customs. I guess we shouldn't have a problem with Osama Bin Laden immigrating here. I mean come on, he's sick and needs medical help! He clearly isn't responsible for his actions. Besides its our fault he hates us. And we all know that if someone does something you don't like its ok to kill them.

Ooops. I may have answered the wrong question.

Pretty much every nation is represented here. The only ones who didn't immigrate were the slaves, and their descendants. It could even be argued that at one point the Native Indians immigrated.

An immigrant is a person who comes with the intention of becoming a citizen. An immigrant registers with the government and goes through the proper channels to establish his/her residency.

A person who enters the United States illegally in order to get a job and send the money home is not an immigrant. A person who enters this country illegally and uses forged documents to escape detection is not an immigrant.

Well unless you or anyone else knows the true history of where everyone came from I guess we dont know do we.
Even the native americans came from somewhere.
But we do know that the USA was established and the world recognizes and accepts it as a country.

Therefore anyone not born here but comin to live here now is an immigrant.

Only the Native Americans. They immigrated from a few sources. The rest of us are invaders/conquerors. Latin Americans are just the latest in a fine tradition of invasion.

I havne't heard Obama say such issues. i don't comprehend the guy yet i comprehend others who do and that they say they under no circumstances heard him show such evaluations as that, in certainty he has continually appeared honestly very patriotic and prefer he feels blessed to be an American. those issues Jeremiah Write reported have been terrible - - as undesirable as while Pat Robertson reported 9/11 became into country's fault, of direction, the information or the Clinton marketing campaign went by using years of sermons and picked out honestly the worst areas. yet I honestly have been to Trinity and Pastor Wright did not say issues THAT severe in each sermon. Wright is easily incorrect headed in some strategies yet he has completed stable in different strategies. has inspired an excellent form of human beings to enable God into their lives, to not turn your backs on others much less fortunate, and to be to blame, help their families, try to do nicely at college & do not hear to the risky physique of concepts that examining skill "appearing white". He has been lively in helping the homeless, those with AIDS etc. And "The Audacity of wish" is a valuable and constructive concept and a solid identify. yet human beings are incorrect and that consists of ministers. BTW you have thoroughly misquoted Mrs. Obama. she did not say "I honestly have under no circumstances been happy with country in my entire grownup life." She reported this became into the 1st time in her grownup life that she felt extremely proud. I too have felt extremely proud to work out how some distance we've come. from purely 40 yrs in the past while blacks in this united states of america have been crushed, arrested, murdered for attempting to vote, and at that factor the belief of a woman president might have in basic terms been the difficulty of stupid jokes....i'm extremely proud the U. S. has now have been given to the factor the place there fairly is an risk for a woman or a individual of coloration to alter into president. and that i've got felt extremely proud to work out what number human beings are being lively politically. that would not advise I honestly have under no circumstances till now felt happy with this united states of america's ideals and accomplishments. Nor does what Michelle Obama reported advise that approximately her.
