P.S. I'm of Lutheran blood
There are already so many things that I believe in such as scientific facts that have actually been proven.
I'm asking this because yesterday my friend spent the whole day trying to convert me, and as much as I wanted to, I just really felt like i couldn't.
Sorry if this doesn't make sense.

The biggest block to a relationship with God is NOT lack of faith - it is lack of seeing your need deeply. The cure for this is to look squarely at what's between you and God and you an your fellow man: sin.
Take a minute to read the 10 commandments (Exodus Chapter 20) and write out on paper every time you can remember having broken any of these. Be thorough about this, because most people are fooling themselves about how good they are, and it is this self-delusion which feeds a lack of faith. Remember that it is not necessary to commit the sin outright to be guilty of it, you just need to have seriously entertained it and wished that you could do it. Jesus equated anger with murder, and looking to lust with adultery, so don't cut yourself any slack.
Next, write down every other thing you can remember doing wrong - all of it. If you have trouble, ask family and friends for help. Having done this, you will see yourself as you really are.
Then you are ready to consider a relationship with God, but not before. You need to repent FIRST.

Firstly, you are not an atheist or you wouldn't feel like this. You are an agnostic, one who is not sure. Have you read the bible. If not, try reading John's gospel. If you have, read it again anyway and imagine that you are sitting listening to Him and that He is speaking to you. Too many people get bogged down in Old Testament without first understanding the New Testament. I suggest John's gospel because it has the longest running comentary from Jesus himself. Once you have read it, ask Him to reveal himself in your life. He is very faithful and may not immediately sweep you off your feet but if you really want to know Him, He will be there. I believe He already has His hand on you and it will be in His time that you come to know Him and not yours. God bless.
Try to read from a modern translation. It will be much easier to understand.

Ask Him. I know it probably sounds weird, but just say something like "God, I want You to reveal Yourself to me. Make me sure of Your existence." God loves when we ask Him to show Himself to us and even though it may take a while, if you ask Him every day He will show Himself to you in a big way. I've seen it happen, a guy I knew who was also an atheist and a drug addict asked Him to reveal Himself to him every day. It took three months, but God came to him one night when he was getting high with his friends and he instantly gave up drugs and fell in love with God. Read Deuteronomy 4:28-31, if you don't have a Bible you can read it here http://bibleresources.bible.com/passagesearchresults.php?passage1=deuteronomy+4%3A28-31&passage2=&passage3=&passage4=&passage5=&version1=31&version2=0&version3=0&version4=0&version5=0&Submit.x=0&Submit.y=0
If you want a Bible, try The Message Remix translation. It's written in real words not "thee" and "thou" stuff. The New International Version is good too, but it's a little more "old fashioned" in its writing (the link above is in the NIV). Why do you wish to believe in God?
Why can't you believe in God?
Is it perhaps because your friends are supposed atheists and you would stand out as different?
If God does not exist, how does one explain the existence of the planet earth.
How to explain the existence of man?
Is it simply because bad stuff happens that you find it difficult?
Then, the question should be:
Why does god allow the bad stuff?
Not .....therefore He doesn't exist.

Interesting question. If you feel a yearning for the Divine, it might be that Christianity simply isn't the right religion for you.
You might find the Belief-O-Matic quiz over at Beliefnet.com helpful:

It's fun, and it matches you up with a wide variety of religions and philosophies based on your answers, with write-ups for each one. The results can be very surprising.

instead of thinking..I'll believe it when I see it...try this one...
I'll see it as long as I believe in it...
Christianity is based upon faith...a faith that works...
you have to believe that something can exist...it forces you to close your eyes and swing - God will bless you with the faith necessary if you take the time to pray to him...it is THAT faith that will make HUGE dividends..
God knows you WANT to believe..so the faith you USE by praying will make a world of difference..I promise you that!

For some, it seems logical and rational that there isn't a God. For others, it seems logical and rational that there is one. Don't believe in God if it seems like nonsense.

complete prayerful surrender to god, asking him to increase your faith, admiting you are in need of forgiveness of sins, and that you are truly sorry, and are willing to give your life to him, unconditionally.
you should start going to church...you will soon discover god does exist, and he does want a relationship with you.
