A new study has struck a harsh blow to the premise that U.S. immigrants, particularly from Mexico, are committed to traditional family values.
The Washington-based Center for Immigration Studies said that immigrants from Mexico and Spanish-speaking countries were not committed to traditional values and pointed to the dramatic rise in illegitimate birth rates among Hispanic immigrants. The center said in a study that immigrant out-of-wedlock births have kept pace with those of native-born Americans.
"The argument is often made that immigrants have a stronger commitment to traditional family values than do native-born Americans," said the report, entitled "Illegitimate Nation: An Examination of Out-of-Wedlock Births Among Immigrants and Natives.” “However, birth records show that about one-third of births to both groups are now to unmarried parents.

We could kill millions of lies, but because most of the population isn't completely honest, we may only kill a few hundred.

So your point is that immigrants (whether illegal or not) are just as "immoral" as all the other "Americans" in the U.S.?
I certainly know more cases of out-of-wedlock births, or divorce - remarraige/ divorce -remarriage in caucasian households. Several caucasian acquaintances are on the 3rd and 4th marriages, and don't find it the least bit odd.
It is not that immigrants are more moral or less moral that native born US citizens, those statistics simply point to a changing world wide society AND the difficulty and committment a marriage requires. Just because people stayed in marriages previously did not denote the marriage was happy or productive.
A liberalization of womens' rights and an increased ability of women to economically support themselves and their offspring also has given rise to out-of-wedlock births and/or divorces. I am not saying that women are to blame. Just pointing out that attidues and circumstances have changed -- in all segments of society (legal, illegal or citizens).

There's a possible flaw in that study. A study that wrongly lumps Blacks and Latinos who are legally resident in the United States together with Americans (i.e., White US citizens) is mixing racial groups having greatly varying birthrates.
The factor that significantly affects group birthrates is race, not citizenship or legal resident status. Latinos, legally resident in the USA or not, have a higher birthrate than either Blacks or Whites, counting births to both married couples and single mothers. The Latino total birthrate is, in fact, one of the world's highest.
The Latino per capita illegitimate birth rate is twice that of Whites.
The Black per capita illegitimate birth rate is ten times that of Whites (or five times that of Latinos).
The notion that Latinos have any particular affinity for family values is, and always was, a fiction, invented by propagandists and broadcast to the public by the mass media. Latinos fall generally between Whites and Blacks on many scales, and the per capita rate of illegitimate births is only one of them.
Latino women also have abortions at 2.7 times the rate that White women do. Hispanic "family values" don't seem to be particularly conspicuous there, either.

Interesting! I totally agree. The illegals are destroying our country. In some areas their are more anchor baby births than births from citizens.
Besides, if the illegal aliens were so supporting of families, why do they break the law by coming here - knowing that they could get deported - and then get separated from their families. This is NOT the government's fault or problem. The illegals cause this.
And the claim that they come here for a "better life" is BS. They come here to get free benefits that they can't get in their home country.
Notice how I am not mentioning any specific country? That's because this issue is not about race. It is only about our laws!

All you have to do is go pick up an almanac and look at the statistics and you would come up with the same thing that study did.

Your reps in Washington are trying to give them Blanket Amnesty BEFORE Memorial Day! Nobody is thinking about the Quality of Life for Americans and Legal Residents who waited in line and did it the Right way! What does that say to them? We Openly Reward Wrongdoing?

What's your question?
I had never heard that immigrants made better
neighbors than citizens. To see this refuted,
even in such a biased way, is just confusing.
And anything that has the word "family value" is
immediately suspect, since those words have
been used with gay bashing for decades.
