Yes, you can cook with lactaid (or any other lactose free or reduced milk product). However it may not work exactly the same as regular milk. I have found that some things don't thicken the same or taste the same. I have also found that there is a different amount of tolerance in different people. I myself can have a little milk product with little or no discomfort so sometimes I choose to cook with regular milk (well skim). You might try a mix of different milk to see what works for you. You know if you don't like the taste of cooking with lactose free/reduced milk that you could take the pills before you eat.

some people i know use soy milk for food and coconut milk for desserts and love the way things turn out.
