He will be a brand new dad for the first time later this month. We will have a 3 week old, approx. baby due May 28th. I want to prepare in advance, since yeah, we will have a 3 week old. Any ideas?

Here's what I did for my husband on his first father's day, it might be a bit harder for you since the baby will be so young and you won't really have a lot of pictures in different types of situations. Total cost was about $40, and they still love to read it together 3 years later.
I gathered up a bunch of pictures of my son with his dad and made a book out of them called "Me and My Dad." It starts with "This is a picture of me, my name is _______." "This is my dad, his name is ________." Then I have pictures of them doing things together (i.e. "Here I am sucking on my dad's nose" "Daddy and I like to take naps together." "Here's Daddy showing me how to golf." etc). I printed the words onto some nice paper I got at Staples (it has an alphabet border), then I taped the pictures onto the pages, and arranged the pages front to back and took them to Staples and had them laminated and bound. The very last page says "Happy Father's Day June ________"

pamper him like he is papering you during your pregnancy. return the favor. as far as gift ideas does he like electronics? its hard to choose something when we dont know much about him. spend some time together as a family for maybe the beginning of the day and take some photos, then see if you know anyone you trust to watch the baby for the evening. get some special alone time together since it will be harder later on as the baby grows.
make him his favorite breakfast, lunch, and dinner too.

If you're feeling up to it, set out the china and tablecloth and make a nice dinner. Have the camera ready for the little spud. (My husband's going to be a grandfather soon, I didn't birth the kids and they won't be near here but I love them.) Or how about going out to dinner? Doesn't have to be a fancy place, just somewhere you haven't been in ages. Or just go to the park and have a nice picnic. Or you could surprise him by making an appt. for a photo studio.
I can't wait for my grandson to arrive! And even though they aren't near, I'll celebrate father's day with my hubby!

How about getting a clay imprint kit for your newborn's feet. Have a friend or relative help you out. This could probably be done just a few days after he/she is born. Give that to your husband with a handwritten letter about how special he is to you and his new baby. Best of luck to you & your family!

My husband loves me to write him little favor coupons. They are free and they really show you care to go the extra mile. I write them for "Go to the store and pick up an item", "Go get fast food", "Backrub", or anything else your husband might enjoy or find handy. Now, everytime Valentine's Day or Father's Day rolls around, my husband starts giving me coupon ideas weeks in advance.
Edit: Heather, that idea is so sweet! I'm going to do that, too.

Why might you instead shop your marriage even supposing it method killing your unborn baby? Don't you dare do some thing you do not wanna do. He does not sound "special" to me. He demands counseling. That baby merits a risk. If your husband does not like that, then is he relatively "special" as you mentioned?

My husband loves tools. So some years (especially extremely trying ones) I get him something he really wants..For him tools, or some sports memorabillia from his favorite teams. We also have the normal custom, on fathers day (or mothers) that person gets the entire day off. No diapers, taking turns in the middle of the night..A whole day off..
