My mom really wants to have my daughters first birthday at her house because she has a swimming pool and we wanted to have a luau. However, my mom only wants me to invite a few family members. I am cooking and providing all of the food and drinks and all of the decorations, and the cake. I am also going to clean her whole house for her. I really want to invite some of my friends because i want her first birthday to be special. What should I do?

The party is for my daughter, NOT ME. I wanted to invite my friends because they have kids her age for her to play with. Otherwise there will be just a bunch of adults there. What fun would that be for a one year old?

Talk to her about it, if she won't budge, have the party elsewhere. This is YOUR daughters first birthday. You make it what you want it. Get a couple of little splash pools and call it good.

She really won't remember it, so it's really making a memory for you. Maybe compromise with your mom let her know that you want more people to come, see if she will budge. If not have the party somewhere else, Let your mom know you appreciate her willingness to let you throw the party there, but you really want to have a bigger party, so you will move it so she doesn't have to worry about her house getting messed up.

Have the party at your home if you can't convince you mom to invite more people.

I am confused. Is the party for you or for your daughter? How will inviting YOUR friends make it more special for your daughter?

JMO - but it should be family and just a couple of your daughter's playmates.

well, have two partys but the less people the better this is for your one year old, you do not want to overwhelm her, but i also think your mom should let you invite who you want, but be honest the party is for the adults not the one year old
