The death penalty I would be for if it was done right. There are times when a person should be put to death in order to keep morality strong in a community. Long ago this was the way of life. If you did something like murder an innocent person, you were put to death. If you raped or robbed you was put to death unless someone had mercy on your soul then you just lost a body part. Now days you just sit in jail for the rest of your life or get a "slap on the hand" and go back out into society.
I am against abortion because that is Murder. Once that egg has been breeched, the life cycle starts and once life begins then that is what it is, life. A soul will now have a body to reside in. You take that away before it's time then anyone who does that will answer to the all mighty God and suffer the judgment he gives.

My religious status: Christian Minister.
Abortion is the murder of innocent life. A baby has done nothing to deserve being bathed in acid or dissected to death. It is a legal crime against humanity.
On the other hand, the death penalty is given to the most violent criminals. They have murdered others, and they must forfeit their own lives a result. They are absolutely guilty, they earned their punishment, and we have the responsibility to carry it out, regardless of financial considerations.
Also, while it may be costly keeping them on death row, the cost ends when they do. Those who get life and keep appealing the whole time just keep costing. Frankly, it is not the death penalty that is the financial problem, it is the slowness of the system.
God gives us some instructions when considering our position and course of action on these issues:
Re: Abortion -
"Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; ...Rescue the weak...and deliver them from the hand of the wicked"
(Psalm 82:3-4)
"Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter"
(Proverbs 24:11).
Re: Capital Punishment-
"Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man"
(Genesis 9:6).
"Do not accept a ransom for the life of a murderer, who deserves to die. He must surely be put to death.
(Numbers 35:31).

I am not religious. I believe in abortion. It is a woman's body and it is her right to do with it as she pleases. Sometimes people are not ready for kids and do what they feel they need to do under their own specific circumstances. (I do believe that sex should just be handles responsibly from the start though) I am against the death penalty. It costs more to have someone executed than it does to keep them in a maximum security prison for life (bc of appeals) It is inhumane and should be outlawed where it is still being practiced.

well if you believe that all get to heaven then I am against
the death penalty. We should keep them alive as long as possible. Maybe in a stasis chamber - that would be more punishment then death.
On abortion - I would rather see we educating our people better so they don't get pregnant in the fist place. But since
people are still getting HIV even thou there are condoms, that shows that we have along way to go. So until the time that people are being more logical we have to let everybody make their own choice on that one.
I personally would not abort - but then I don't sleep around so its easy for me to say no to abortion.

I support both. If you deprive someone else of life, your life should be deprived. As for abortion, our population is getting to be a major problem and any measure to help combat that is a positive. A fetus is not aware of its "life", so you aren't depriving it of anything.
I am an atheist.
I will then add that I disagree with your assessment. Keeping someone in prison for 20 years and then executing them, is not going to be more expensive than keeping them in prison for 50, 60 or more years.

I'm not for abortion as a simple 'oops' contraceptive. I do think it should be legal and safe, though, because not all situations fall into that category.
I am against the death penalty - in good part because DNA evidence is now exonerating people 20 years or more after they've been found guilty of committing a crime. What if we executed someone and then found out they were innocent?
I was raised Christian, but I do not consider myself to be of any religion now.

the death penalty is inevitable bcos there are law breakers that would stop at nothing to get what they want. take 4 instance a serial(psycho or sadistic) killer, there is no way they can be rehabilitated & keeping them in jail would only make those ones that can be rehabilitated or those that could be innocent not get that second chance .Abortion on the other hand is wrong according to christain faith, it is rational to think of it as wrong but i also think its rational to think of it as a better solution to increasing # of criminals that we find in our community becos these criminals were either not shown love from birth due to the fact that couple weren't ready 4 it or they not being able to take care of the kid due to poverty. It has its advantage & disadvantage. I think it should just remain in the black market(illegal).

Atheist, pro death penalty especially for child molesters and middle of the road on abortion - I'm totally against it as a form of birth control as there are tons of other options but it should be safe and legal for those who need it.
Why? It is not fair to keep someone alive and a burden on society for their entire life or to let them out to repeat their crime on others. As for abortion, there are many ways to prevent unwanted pregnancies (most of them much safer than abortion) plus there are many people willing to adopt.

It really depends on the situation.
I'm not really for the death penalty for serious crimes such as murder, because I feel that the person should suffer and feel pain like the people they hurt.
I don't support abortion but I believe that the mother should have the choice of what she wants to do.
Not religious, but open-minded.
