It's because they're so confused about their own beliefs that they have to constantly judge and criticize everyone else to give their religion some sort of creditability in their minds.
It's like the fat kid that goes around picking on everyone else and calling them names because he has such a low self esteem and wants to feel better about himself.

I think I would be classified as a judgemental person if I didn't get or inquire from you the specifics of what do you classify being judgemental, because if you're reproaching someoene for doing something inapropriate, you have not just the right but the obligation of telling that person about there wrong desission or actions because how then will one grow and expand [be more mature]? Now.....being judgemental is to me a person who closes the book at you and condemns you with an inability to use his judgement for a constructive reason or purpouse and most of the time they are doing just the same thing they are judging you with.

Though I cannot speak for all Christians, obviously, when I respond to some of today's "hottest" topics, I back up everything with scripture. I am judging people, I am merely pointing out what God through his word is saying about these topics. I have my opinions but the Bible has the answers. The scriptures are there for us to study these topics and also for the purpose of teaching the truth.
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:" 2 Timothy 3: 16
Please notice the words "reproof", "correction" and "instruction" in the verse above.
Sometimes the Christians who are answering these questions, even when using scriptures, are accused of being judgemental because the person asking the question does not agree with the Bible or refuses to accept what the Bible teaches.

Hi, I am a Christian, and you need to realize there is a difference between judging someone, and reporting the Word God has written where He has already judged the act. Example:
"That girl is such a sinner - do you see how short her skirt is?".
She's just been judged.
Now check this out:
"If you blaspheme the Holy Spirit, there is no forgiveness available to you".
Now this one is not me judging, its Gods judgement, and I have only reported it, not judged it.
Whenever someone correctly states something in Gods Word that is a directive from God, they are not judging, they are reporting.
Okay, enough said: onto the cool stuff:
Judgement about:
gays - reporting (tough - God already judged it and it is an abomination, period)
If someone is offended by it, oh well, if the shoe fits, wear it real snug.
sinners - depends on what it is; if Gods Word states it to be a sin, its a sin. If God's Word does not state it to be a sin, someone is judging it. (common sense)
criminals - this is weird; I rarely hear of anyone discussing people behind bars, but the truth is that most of the disciples spent time in jail; also, none of us know what God has in store for any of us: Paul, before he was struck down by God on the road to Damascus, was a Christian hater if there ever was one, but when it came time for God to use him, Paul ended up penning most of the New Testament. And Paul was one of those who spent alot of time in jail.
My point is that when we see a drunk lying on the sidewalk, urine and vomit soaked, not bathed, etc...don't be too quick to think poorly of the guy - he just may be the guy who ends up doing the most important work of God in all of history. We just don't know.
Muslims - I'm sure there are nice muslims, but they are gonna have to understand that our enemy is invisable; all we know of them is that they are muslims, so the "good" muslims will just have to excuse us while WE ATTEMPT TO KEEP OUR KIDS ALIVE. Nobody should judge them for their history, God knows Christianity cannot hold up to that scrutiny, but we are talking about attacks and a will to actively kill westerners, that is not history, its now, today, in 2007.
tv, films and music; yeah, I know they are judged but they are judged of their content.
My personal feeling is that I am an adult, and at night when the kids are asleep, my husband and i want to watch an adult show.
Often the story line requires that certain things are shown or said. I think we should be adult enough to be able to handle that.
p.s. I can't stand gospel music; I'm an original woodstocker, and I like rock music and blues, so thats what i listen to. If I hear a song that goes; "la la la I hate God la la la, then I wouldn't listen to it, probably mostly because it sucks.

with all due respect.
know one thing, not all people that call them selves Christians really are: meaning that not all follow God's Word or even life the way God wants use to live.
another thing you need to understand is the real meaning of judge - we never judge you, but only speak the word of God the Way it is and do our main job which is to preach to gospel (weather you want to except it or not is up to you).
telling someone that killing people is wrong is not being judge-mental. You are only giving a true statement that not only the Bible backs you up, but also the law.
So think about your statement and understand the word Judge.
God Bless

Hi, I'm a Christian, and Christians are sinners, we have done nothing to earn our way into Heaven, we have just accepted a free gift.
Romans 3:23 - For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
John 3:16 - For God so Loved the world he gave his only son, whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
I'm a sinner, I fail all the time, all the time I screw up, but God knew that this failure couldn't earn his way to Heaven so he sent his precious son to die, bleed, suffer and take upon himself all my sin on the cross paying my debt that I couldn't. He died for you too.
I'm just a sinner saved by grace with no right to judge another person, because I have been forgiven for so much.

The judgment on certain behaviors and activities wasn't done by us. Moral standards were established by God and put forth in the Bible. Christians are supposed to live by those standards becaus that's what God expects of us.
In today's politically correct terms, we may seem judgmental because we can't accept anything and everything as being right. The world's opinions can and do change frequently, but God's expectations remain the same. He's the sovereign Lord of the universe, and He has the right to set the standards for behavior.
So if there's a problem with what we believe, you need to take it up with God. I seriously doubt that He's going to change His mind to accomodate your opinions, but you're welcome to try.

Not all people who call themselves Christians live their life accordingly. I am a Christian, and while I do not "keep it to myself", I also don't shove it down others throats. In my honest opinion, the best way to witness to people is to live as an example and be ready if and when someone you know comes to you with questions about God.
Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

WOW I LOVE your question. you make an excellent point. I am not a Christian, was, but no more. I cannot stand the hypocriticizm and the unacceptance. there are so many lessons in the bible as love thy neighbor (unless he's gay???) and something about not pointing out the sliver in my eye until you pull the log out of your s (that one is weird I know). however as many Christians that are part of the Christian Right (do not believ in equality for women, against gay rights, against abortion, against sex ed, for teaching only creationism in schools..) there are Christians that are good people. My aunt is quite faithful to Christianity but she knows that my sister does not worship Jesus and she know that my husnabd and I are Wiccans and she accepts us and never ever thrown it in our face. Some Christians do keep their religion to themselves, the only ones we hear about are the ones that preach intolerance.

easy most arent, lets start with tv,films, music, that is an act not an individual,so we can say the action is bad(a sin) yes. thats not judging, look at it like this would GOD or JESUS listen or watch most entertainment medias? most are promoting immoral sex, drugs, alchohol, violance, everything GOD detest.and your gays, sinners, criminals and other religions, some do yes but for the most part we dont judge the individual we call the act a sin. homosexuality not the person, the actual sin not sinner, and of course other religions are wrong we are supposed to witness this to the world. so we dont judge like you and others claim we follow scripture.if GOD says the sky is blue then... the sky is blue.

Good f*cking question! You rock!
That is precisely why I stopped being Christian. I started to see how unfair and judgmental they were towarrds people who are different so now I'm a spiritualist. I just have a personal relationship with God. God made us all different for a reason. We each have a purpose on this earth no matter with fi we're gay or of a different religion. Dude, you should totally add me onto your list. LOL
