Kebobs are always fun, all sorts of veg and meat options.
Small grilled pizzas are super easy to make.
Baked apples are fun now and then
Grilled corn (mexican spicing makes it special if your son would like it. My son loves spicy)
Zuccini boats stuffed with meat/cheese or both.
Spaghetti squash baked with sauce. (Not necessarily fast, but low work)
"Italian" Sandwhiches on foccacia bread
Stuffed baked potato

I cannot remember what my dad used to call these, but they were a classic camping meal (my whole extended family on my dad's side -- including nine children within five years of each other -- used to go camping for a week when I was little). It's fun for kids because they get to help. I'm wanting to say he called them Turtles. He used to be the camp director at a camp called Camp Pirtle, so maybe I'm getting the two confused, but I think they were Pirtle Turtles. Anyway.................
You'll need to do the prep work. Make your standard size hamburger patties, and season them however you like doing it (I use garlic, black pepper, a little seasoning salt, and chili powder). Then cut up carrots, celery, onion, potato, mushrooms, whatever veggies you want (and you think it's even remotely possible your child will want to eat), and set the veggies out. Take about an 8"x8" square of heavy aluminum foil. Make two squares for each portion. Let your son load up on whatever veggies he wants in his packet. Once he's done, place a hamburger patty over the veggies (usually you do it the other way, but who wants to give their child raw meat???) top with the second piece of foil, and fold it several times around each end to seal it. If you have a charcoal grill, you can put it right on the coals, or on the rack. Cook it for about as long as you would cook a well-done hamburger. Serve with noodles.
Just realized that's more of a not-quick dinner idea. Still good, still fun for kids. You should try it.

My daughter loves burgers too. Especially cheeseburgers. And she like chicken breasts as well. So as long as you don't spice up theirs too much then I think those are 2 good i deas. Along with some veggies of course. And those are good cooked on the grill too.

Go ahead and make hamburgers on the grill, too. My son eats hamburgers, but I cut them into tiny non chokable sized bites and cover them with ketchup to make them more toddler friendly.

If they like ham, you could buy ham steaks and cut it into cubes to make ham and pineapple kabobs. Or you could make real grilled- grill cheese. :) or you could make them all their own individual packets with veggies, potatoes, and cook a boneless skinless chicken breast to cube up and stick in each of the packets. Kids love getting their own things like that. Good luck!

will your child eat veggies? Carrots, zuccini, asparagus all cook up great on the grill. Toss with olive oil, salt and pepper, and grill on a medium flame.

i see that a lot of folks said chicken, which would be my choice if i had kids, just make sure that the chicken is boneless (some chicken may have small bones that may be miss when chopping it into small pieces) so try boneless chicken breast, being that the breast is the tenderest part of the chicken it'll be easier for the lil' one to chew...good luck i hope you enjoy the BBQ...

All my kids love chicken. I take chicken breast and cook it then cut it up into little pieces. They like to dip them into various sauces. The chicken really doesn't take long to cook either.

Why not chicken? It's easy and it doesn't take long. And I don't know any kid who doesn't like chicken. You can cook the chicken any way you want, bbq, whatever they like.
