Soldiers, troops of ANY kind, should never be "pulled" from an engagement that would leave the whole vulnerable. Only once the objective is secured should we prepare to redeploy troops.

For those who believe "we need out now" clearly do not understand the way military conflict resolution works.

If you believe that everything we are doing is wrong (a probable impossibility), would you care to answer me why we are still in Bosnia after Clinton sent us there? Germany? Italy? Spain? Japan? Korea?

It is because we, as a country, made commitments, to these countries, to the people, to the world, that we would assist where needed and stay as long as required to help these nations get back on their feet. Once the job is done, then the two governments decided together whether this relationship should continue, and due to our good works, we typically are invited to stay.

THAT is why we should stay and why we AREN'T taking their oil; because Iraq as a friend would be powerful indeed. Such a relationship would allow us to share cultures and friendships, learn more about each other, offer better relations such as trade agreements, and all other types of beneficial goodness.

If we were actually stealing Iraqi oil, can someone please answer these questions:

1. Why would Iraq allow us to get away with taking their oil?
2. Even if they couldn't prevent us from physically taking it, why wouldn't they report it to the world?
3. Where exactly are we taking this oil?
4. How are we getting it out of Iraq?
5. Why are other countries, especially those that oppose us or this conflict (France, Germany, etc), allowing us to take the oil if we are indeed taking it?

When I was in Iraq, an Iraqi leader (you wouldn't believe me if I told you who it was) told us that we (the USA) needed to stay in Iraq for 100 years in order for Iraqi citizens to be able to take charge of and lead their own destinies. When we asked him where he got that number from (100 years) he told us "look how long you [the USA] have been in Germany and Japan [60 years], and look at how strong these countries are now."

He also said that Iraqis have long memories and would never forget what we did for them if we were to stay and help them.

This is why I fight, this is why I am proud of my actions in assisting Iraq and Afghanistan in achieving the OPPORTUNITY for freedom. Now we have to build that opportunity up and make it a strong base from which these great nations can prosper, as friends of the west.
