Eat 6 small but balanced meals per day. Your carbs should be high in fiber, your proteins should be lean, and your fats should be sparing but high in the omega 3 & 6 fatty acids. Avoid greasy foods, alcohol, and candy.
Lift weights or perform power yoga. These are resistance exercises which will increase your lean mass and burn extra calories 24 hours per day. Also, some cardio helps.
Use a measuring tape instead of a scale to measure your progress because the measuring tape is more accurate.
Here is a sample meal plan and a sample workout:

Pure hoodia works really well. It's 100% natural - extracted from cactus. It works as an excellent appetite suppressant (thirst is also suppressed so make sure you drink lots of water even if you're not thirsty).
Also, there's a new drink Enviga (a coke product I believe) that is basically carbonated green tea in 3 flavors; green tea, peach, or raspberry. It claims to "burn calories" but I think it just helps support a higher metabolism like all green tea/caffeine products can in a safe way. Enviga certainly is a better/more natural energy drink alternative to others on the market.

Watch your sugar and sodium intake. Sodium adds weight to your stomach due to bloating. Drink plenty of water. Eat 1/2 grapefruit a day or take the tablets for quick weight loss. Also adding cinnamon a day will decrease the weight to your waistline and increase your metabolism.
I read the book thin commandments and it really helped me. This book is great for permanent weight loss. I can email you the 10-day Turbo diet and after you are done with that I can email you plan B. Also the food journal to print out and keep on your fridge to make sure you keep up with what you eat. Keeping a food journal is key to successful weight loss.
Also pop in a CD into your walkman and take a brisk walk for at least 30 mns a day. Jump rope at least twice a week also.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

I lost a lot of mass in my waist from eating fruits and vegetables only for 21 days. If you are religous, this is called the Daniel Diet. It has worked for me to where my clothes fit better. I am off the "diet" now, but I continue to watch my sweets, breads, meats and sodas.
