A kidney stone? (Just kidding! Don't beat me up here, guys!)

Seriously, I think stones are more tied to the Zodiac calendar whereas anniversaries are "bronze, aluminum, silver, golden," etc. Given that the 50th anniversary is the golden one, perhaps for a 50th wedding anniversary present (not birthday) a gift of gold would be appropriate. I have never heard of specific gifts associated with which number birthday one is having.

Anything you want to give her.. there is no 'incorrect' stone :)
Anniversaries have traditional gifts.. birthdays do not, with the exception of birthstones, and they are the same for every birthday.

The only thing I would suggest veering away from is anything artificial.. a 50 year old woman deserves the real deal.. no 'gold plate' or cubic zirconia or fake pearls (cultured and freshwater are fine so long as they are REAL!).
