You mean like they should keep it personal like people keep their SSN? Wow, thats a really good idea. I wish they would! I get sick of hearing everybody elses speeches about their religion. Keep it to yourself!!

It should be secret as well as original as the Social Security Number. But the problem is that many are going with the wrong one. It is here it matters.

You mean as in secret? I don't think you actually have to tell anyone your religion if you don't want to. Most people are proud of whatever it is they believe in though. Besides, I'm pretty sure discrimination because of a person's religion or lack thereof is illegal, at least in the States.

No, it's a free world (even though some people think they can control it) but we each have our own free will and if that means speaking up about what you believe in, so be it. As long as it's not rude.

Your SS# is known by many more people than you know.
If you have great news, do you not want to share it? You have your first child. Did you keep it a secret?

No one is forced to reveal their religious preference.
Personally, I am a proud and devout Roman Catholic, and have no problem shouting it to the world.
If I reveal my SS#, someone might use it for identify theft.
If someone wants to steal my religious identity and become Catholic, I say go for it. :)

If they were to keep quiet about it, would the numbers begin to sing out?

I believe if someone chooses to follow a particular religious belief system, that should be a personal thing....much like their SSN.
"Those who want to share their religious beliefs with you, almost never want you to share your religious beliefs, or lack thereof, with them."

In the sense that you don't reveal it to everyone all the time, yes.
In the sense that every gov't/banking document requires it, no.

It is.
You are free to reveal or decline to reveal your religion at any time.
