In the Armenian tradition, the grooms family invites the brides family over for dinner. While they are there, the brides family "steals" stuff from the grooms house. But without them knowing. Little things....trinkets, cups...stuff like that.
Then, at the rehersal dinner, they give the items back in fancy wrapped packages. The idea is to emphasize that the groom's family is getting the "best gift", the bride.
