the wrath of God?

There is significant Bible proof that God is finished with ALL the local churches (regardless of denomination). In 2 Thessalonians 2:3 God speaks about a "falling away." This is not in regard to church attendance because more people are attending churches than ever before. The "falling away" refers to departing from Bible truth. The "man of sin" (son of perdition) can be shown to be satan. The Lord tells us in Isaiah 14:9-15 that satan's desire was to be "like the Most High." After man sinned against God, satan was given rule over the earth (Luke 4:5-7). However, satan could not rule in the churches because God was present when any 2 believers gathered together (Matt. 18:20). But just as God departed from the Temple (when Christ died on the cross), so the Lord has departed from ALL the local churches. In 2 Thessalonians 2:7,8 God tells us the Holy Spirit has left and the Wicked (satan) is ruling there. Also see Matthew 24:15,16 and Revelation 18:4, 23.

The 7-year tribulation of Jacob's day forced him to leave Canaan and go to Egypt (7 years=84 months). The 70-year tribulation of Jeremiah's day forced Judah to leave the promised land and go to Babylon (70 years=840 months). The Great Tribulation of today (began in 1988) forced the true believers to leave the local churches and go into the world (2011-1988=23 years). 23 years contains 5 leap years of 366 days + 18 years of 365 days. The total number of days = 8400 days. This cannot be a coincidence but shows God's Sovereignity in the time patterns.

I'd be curious as to where you got the year 1988. Is it an arbitrary number? Or is there something in those passages or elsewhere that lead you to that year?

Not all. Jesus said there was one true path, one true faith, one narrow roadway.

Most all of so-called Christian religions have departed from Bible truth. As I was reminded on another question, we think of this as Satan doing a good job of confusion. There is another. Many people are just too lazy to find out the truth. Satan has done a great deal of damage but we give him too much credit. Most of our problems are just our own fault.

We willingly believe stuff like the trinity, packaged under another name would be laughed out of town. There was some joke told about seeing a Christmas scene with Santa Claus standing over the maneger. It got big laughs rightly so. Immortality of the soul, why earthly life at all? Why death?

None of these things are taught in the Bible!!! These are from a combination of Satan and man's invention or whimsy, take your pick.

There is one path to worshipping God in the way He approves. It is our job to find and walk that path.

No one told me. My church opens the Bible with every service. I think maybe you're putting your own spin on this.

Whatever happened in 1988 that convinced you of this?

absolutely wrong... sorry.

there are many 'churches' who HAVE fallen away with God's teachings and are succumbing to the ways of the world ... (tolerance towards sinful living as 'ok', not speaking of sin but only giving foo foo loveydovey messages, etc) but I know of many churches who are only of the Word and not of the world...

you should have included the scripture not just the address in the bible:
2 Thessalonians 2:6-12
And you know what is holding him back, for he can be revealed only when his time comes. For this lawlessness is already at work secretly, and it will remain secret until the one who is holding it back steps out of the way. Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed, but the Lord Jesus will kill him with the breath of his mouth and destroy him by the splendor of his coming.

This man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles. He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them. So God will cause them to be greatly deceived, and they will believe these lies. Then they will be condemned for enjoying evil rather than believing the truth.
______
speaking of the end times, of a single 'person', the antichrist, who has not been revealed at this point, may or may not be on the earth at this point, but only about that situation... yes, there are those who are believing false doctrine at this point, but it is not the same as what is pointed to in this scripture
____
Matthew 24:15,16 “The day is coming when you will see what Daniel the prophet spoke about—the sacrilegious object that causes desecration standing in the Holy Place.” (Reader, pay attention!) “Then those in Judea must flee to the hills.
_____
This is speaking about when the Holy Place, (capital letters at the beginning means it is THE holy place, not just any and every church, but that of Israel's Temple where the Holy of Holies will be once again, but only when the temple is rebuilt) again, in the end times... and the desecration will be either the slaughter of a pig (as in sacrifice, as unclean animal) or the worship of graven image of the antichrist... again, end times, not yet happened, so that point is moot in this 'question'
____________
Revelation 18:(4, 23???)1-24
After all this I saw another angel come down from heaven with great authority, and the earth grew bright with his splendor. He gave a mighty shout:
“Babylon is fallen—that great city is fallen!
She has become a home for demons.
She is a hideout for every foul[a] spirit,
a hideout for every foul vulture
and every foul and dreadful animal.
For all the nations have fallen
because of the wine of her passionate immorality.
The kings of the world
have committed adultery with her.
Because of her desires for extravagant luxury,
the merchants of the world have grown rich.”

Then I heard another voice calling from heaven,

“Come away from her, my people.
Do not take part in her sins,
or you will be punished with her.
For her sins are piled as high as heaven,
and God remembers her evil deeds.
Do to her as she has done to others.
Double her penalty for all her evil deeds.
She brewed a cup of terror for others,
so brew twice as much for her.
She glorified herself and lived in luxury,
so match it now with torment and sorrow.
She boasted in her heart,
‘I am queen on my throne.
I am no helpless widow,
and I have no reason to mourn.’
Therefore, these plagues will overtake her in a single day—
death and mourning and famine.
She will be completely consumed by fire,
for the Lord God who judges her is mighty.”

And the kings of the world who committed adultery with her and enjoyed her great luxury will mourn for her as they see the smoke rising from her charred remains. 10 They will stand at a distance, terrified by her great torment. They will cry out,

“How terrible, how terrible for you,
O Babylon, you great city!
In a single moment
God’s judgment came on you.”

The merchants of the world will weep and mourn for her, for there is no one left to buy their goods. She bought great quantities of gold, silver, jewels, and pearls; fine linen, purple, silk, and scarlet cloth; things made of fragrant thyine wood, ivory goods, and objects made of expensive wood; and bronze, iron, and marble. She also bought cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, olive oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle, sheep, horses, chariots, and bodies—that is, human slaves.

“The fancy things you loved so much
are gone,” they cry.
“All your luxuries and splendor
are gone forever,
never to be yours again.”

The merchants who became wealthy by selling her these things will stand at a distance, terrified by her great torment. They will weep and cry out,

“How terrible, how terrible for that great city!
She was clothed in finest purple and scarlet linens,
decked out with gold and precious stones and pearls!
In a single moment
all the wealth of the city is gone!”

And all the captains of the merchant ships and their passengers and sailors and crews will stand at a distance. They will cry out as they watch the smoke ascend, and they will say, “Where is there another city as great as this?” And they will weep and throw dust on their heads to show their grief. And they will cry out,

“How terrible, how terrible for that great city!
The shipowners became wealthy
by transporting her great wealth on the seas.
In a single moment it is all gone.”

Rejoice over her fate, O heaven
and people of God and apostles and prophets!
For at last God has judged her
for your sakes.

Then a mighty angel picked up a boulder the size of a huge millstone. He threw it into the ocean and shouted,

“Just like this, the great city Babylon
will be thrown down with violence
and will never be found again.
The sound of harps, singers, flutes, and trumpets
will never be heard in you again.
No craftsmen and no trades
will ever be found in you again.
The sound of the mill
will never be heard in you again.
The light of a lamp
will never shine in you again.
The happy voices of brides and grooms
will never be heard in you again.
For your merchants were the greatest in the world,
and you deceived the nations with your sorceries.
In your streets flowed the blood of the prophets and of God’s holy people
and the blood of people slaughtered all over the world.”

how can you pull one verse here and one verse there out of that scripture? it is a 'whole' story, not a line here and there pulled to make a point that is not what the scripture says???? you need to read things as a whole and ask for guidance as to what it means... this is in time of tribulation, which we have NOT started at this point, as none of the previous prophecies about the end times have come to pass.... you may be seeking truth but are finding your 'own' truths that are not the worlds 'state' right now... try seeking God's truth only.... put aside your own judgemental thoughts and seek humbleness and truth in the WHOLE word, not just a line here and there to 'make up a story' you want to believe

there ARE wonderful churches who are truly seeking ONLY the Truth of the Word, who share the good and the not so pleasant things that will be to come... and who are serving God in the Great Commission of spreading the Word to all nations
