There are peaceful religions that believe all religions hold truths, and respect the differences and similarities in religions.
I think the world would be more peaceful if everyone just believed in one of those religions.
Such as Jainism, Hinduism, or Buddhism.

Dear trippin,
The problem with all people is PRIDE. Pride is a sin. If a question on Y/A Religion appears that I do not know the answer, I just go on to the next question.
However, I have to say that the Bible is the authority. The Bible is a large book and is very difficult to understand. It requires much study time and prayer and only if God gives one some understanding can a question be resolved. The Bible is not something to be taken lightly nor mocked-it is God's word.
So when I answer a question regarding the Bible, I want to be precise.

Do you LIKE to admit you don't know something? Questions only highlight our ignorance about what we have said.
"from what we truely know, anyone of them could be right or wrong" Should we not find out?
Follow my reasoning. Any employer has a goal and a path to reach that goal. He expects his employees to follow directions on that path. How could God be any different?
As our Creator, the only thing we can give is our worship. Don't you think He would let us in on it? Let us take it as a given the Bible is that document. It is only by questioning everything we can arrive at the truth.
Forget what the guy in the $4,000.00 suit is saying. Forget what your parents told you. (You always dismissed them as too old to be listened to when you disagreed with them anyway.) Forget what you "heard". --- Question and find answers!!!
The Creator shows order in all His creations. There is logic there. All of the beliefs of His worship would HAVE to make sense.

Because people are looking for purpose and belonging. I've read some atheist books and frankly it scares the hell out of me to think that existence for me ends at death. People do not want to face this and I don't blame them. The problem is that many people use religion to find happiness when true happiness comes from within. When their religion is attacked, the world that they created for themselves is attacked and they must defend it. Whatever happens in the afterlife we'll never know. So lets concentrate on the here and now.

I would have to disagree with the first phrase of your questions from a purely logical standpoint. There is much that has been revealed to us (people) as far as Almighty God goes. That is, having researched many a religion myself, I find the most logical and historically supported one to be Christianity.
I also take what Christ Himself said and taught and I have to evaluate that. Afterall, He makes some outrageous claims.
Was He a liar? A lunatic? Or Lord God Himself?
Having said that, there is much that has been revealed to us, but much remains mysterious about God Himself. This is purposeful on Gods part. Why would we need faith if we already knew everything we needed to know? Where would the reliance on God come in?
This is where faith comes in.
As far as giving a defense for our faith, I think it is very healthy when sharing our faith with others to say "I don't know the answer right now, but I'll try to find out for you" that is, if the question pertains to a particular church doctrine or discipline.
If the question pertains to generics like "Why does God let bad things happen to good people?" Well, then, you're getting into the mysteries of God and only God Himself knows what glory will come of any situation.
I can base my faith on what history dictates and history clearly shows record upon record of who Christ was, and records accounts of those who followed Him, lived with him, broke bread with him, etc. There is tangible evidence for me to investigate and the rest is taken on good faith.
I would encourage you to not become disheartened about other people's reactions. But I would always encourage you to investigate, to find the Truth in Christ.
He made the bold assertion "I am the Way the Truth and the Life". He also said "No one comes to the Father but through me." Are you willing to investigate this mystery?
Are you willing to learn about Christ and open to the possibility that Truth is not a something ... but a Somebody?

A good idea, but most religions expect you to act a certain way and do certain things. It requires a bit more commitment to actually follow a religion than you suggest.
Basically, most religions require you to believe you DO know.

Because they all think they do know....but yeah admittance to not actually knowing for sure would be good. Although there would probably be hardly any q and a on here any more!

I'll admitt it freely! I don't know if I'm right or wrong. I believe what I feel in heart, please do the same. We just need to stop being so damn hostile about everything. It's getting crazy.
