no, it will be fun. they start soccer at 3 years old. and i think t-ball too! and if he doesn't like it you can always just take him out. but i think that would be good for him especially since a lot of kids are obese. my friend son is 2 and all he does is watch cartoon network all day long!! and he eats snacks all day, i know he will end up being over weight.

Three is not too young. I would encourage physical activity. Expose him to lots of different sports and observe him. See which one he likes best and takes after the most. When he turns 5 or 6 that's usually a good age to start specializing him in a sport of his choice. I recomend swimming, karate, soccer. Also don't forget to expose him to things such as art and music.

Let him participate in sports for a few aspects of it: fun, social, and exercise.

The two things related to sports that can have negative effects on your son would be: poor sportsmanship learned at a young age, and introduction to weight training and muscle mass increase at too young of an age.

here in florida, we have sports that start at 3 years old. Like soccer and t-ball. They are not competitive though. They are more like just learning how to play the game and the rules.

I don't think it's too young at all. My nephew was playing baseball while he was in diapers and he's almost 5 now. He's obsessed with all things baseball. I think starting your son in a sport would be great... get him outside, exercising, playing.
