My son has a boil and i need some advice on how to deal with it. He is 17yrs and it's near his private area so he won't let me take a look. It's not a hernia I know that. How long does it take to heal?

Warm compresses. There is a product called drawing salve available at the drug store. It will help the boil come to a head in 24 hours. After the boil has drained use an antibiotic cream for 3 days which should heal it completely.

So sorry. Toothpaste the regular kind works well for pimples, might work. leave it on over night. Or take a glass soda bottle and put in a saucepan of very hot water to heat the bottle. Apply the opning of the bottle directly over the boil, creting a vaccum. let the bottle cool and it should pull it closer to the surface. U may have to do it a couple times. If that doesn't work, go to CVS Pharmacy and ask for boil medicine. Drawing salve.

Garlic and onions have proved most effective among the several home remedies found beneficial in the treatment of boils. The juice of garlic or onion may be applied externally on boils to help ripen them, break them, and evacuate the pus. An equal quantity of the juices of these two vegetables can also be applied with beneficial results. Eating of two to three pods of garlic during meals will also bring good results.

This is an old remedy that my mom used " cut off a piece of salt pork and let it stay overnight.
