my son is four and woke up twice last night crying and saying that some man was dead and in a dark corner. what would cause this, is this a nightmare or a night terror. my husband his dad wants to see if it happens again before contacting the doctor. there have been no changes at home. other than we moved nearly a month ago whats going on with my son and any advice

it could be any number of things. something he saw on TV, even briefly. something someone said and he did not fully understand and his mind is trying to figure it out. the stress of change, the move to a new house. try talking to him, see if something has scared him or is bothering him. it should pass. its just his mind working out something

It is only a nightmare. There is no need to contact the doctor for this. Nightmares at this age are common, as a child's imagination is really starting to develop. Even very dark nightmares are common in "well-adjusted" kids.

i can only suggest one thing he has been exposed to something voilent or discomforting such as a tv programme cartoons tv these days children shouldnt have to see that stuff their minds are like spounges. might not be that at all. but when and if i have children i will protect their as much as i can untill they are older nuff to understand. thats why theres guidelines for veiwing. good luck and i wish yous both a uninterrupted or free of nightmares gdnite
