mechanical hoists: the actor wears a harness - much like the flying gear for Peter Pan stage shows, the harness is attached to a cable and pole which is painted "green-screen- green", the actor lies back and is supported by the harness and hoist, they can move around and the pole is CGI'd out in post-production.
