i was just wondering if people still give gifts off of the the registries, or do most people just give money since it's easier and simplier?

For showers people in my area give off the registry, for weddings we give money. I am in the North East.

People do either. The on-line registries are sometimes even easier than giving money because there is no worry over what amount to give. A few clicks and a gift they already want goes right to the happy couple.

It really depends on how traditional the couple is. A lot of people still view money gifts as tacky, and prefer their guests to get something off their registry. Less traditional couples might view money gifts as a more practical thing than a bunch of cookware or a blender or something. Personally, I am hoping that when I get married, everyone gives me cash instead of lame houseware stuff. If you have any doubts, just get them a gift card to a store they're registered at. It spends like cash, but still shows some thought and advanced planning.

As a general rule, people give you registry gifts for your shower, and money for a wedding gift.

Of course, there are some who still purchase gifts from your registry for the wedding, and there are always those who purchase a gift from the heart for either occasion.

It's a pretty broad stroke to paint with, but generally speaking, this is the trend I've noticed.

if they have the registries then get a gift from that if you have time if they registered for it they must want it right ? but if you don't have time or can't pick a gift ( i can take up to an hour picking either the toaster or the blender) then do cash. kinda look over what they registered for and kinda know the price range like on average the items are like $40 then give them that much in cash so they can go buy the things off the register.

People usually give gifts off the registry for the bridal shower or for engagement gifts. Most people tend to gift money gifts at the actual wedding.

both. Do what you can afford. Often you can get a gift that is WORTH more money than you actually spend. But spend only what you can afford.
If you can't find anything on the registry, then buy a gift card to the store they register.

We always give gifts, but never off the registries. We tailor the gift to the couple.

People still do both, but I would prefer getting gifts. I'm afraid that if we get money it will be sent on bills and we'll forget about getting the houseware essentials. However, expect people to write checks because it's a lot easier than finding a gift.

They do both. I always try to buy a gift, but most of the weddings I've attending have a "money dance" where you pay to dance with the bride and/or groom and this is when I give a monetary gift.
