Do those religious people really believe everything they read in their bible?
F`rinstance, we are threatened with burning in the fires of hell but what does it matter if we have no skin and bone or able to fear or feel pain?
It`s ridiculous.
Those stories are made up to scare people, the ignorant low-intelligent people, that is...

I was forced from childhood to attend sunday school because my parents wanted Sunday afternoon to themselves. Get it? And not for religious purposes.
I was also forced to go to sunday school for at least 12 years; I attended a Roman Catholic school - tho` I was not baptised as catholic - and religion was rammed down our throats continually - a waste of time. My father claimed to be religious but the only time he went to church was for his own funeral, even then he had to be dragged there!
I reached 16 and thought about it and decided it was a load of cobblers. It just did not sound or read right.
Get a life!!!

That was an incredibly patronizing and arrogant thing to say. There are many of us who are Christians who are quite intelligent. Do you know anyone who has belief? Have you made any effort to seek out the religious community and actually get to know the immense amount of thought and consideration that goes into Theology? Step outside your pride and ignorance and get to know the real community before you pronounce judgement.

Wonderful and intelligent question.

Only those blind belivers of biblical relgion like "Sharon M" would tell you that you are arrogant to ask such question , and they may even tell you to pray not to have such questions in your mind.

As a Hindu, I would say that such natural questions and seeking its answer is important to find the truth and remove our ignorance. Hinduism has answers to all truth seekers.

According to Hinduism, you should experence the effects of your actions (karmas). You may get it now or later. The effect of your own bad actions(by your free will you create actions) will come to you as a non-favourable situation thus causing you sufferings. The time you experience such suffering is the hell. Same way, the effect of your good deeds are good and the time when you experince it is the heaven.

So according to Hinduism , Hell and Heaven is here in this world and not outside. Hell and heaven are momantary expereinces not eternal. The one who is the owner of the actions is not your body but your soul(jeeva atma) and when you die, this jeeva atma(real you) leave this body with a package of good and bad deeds with it. It will get into another body to complete this karmas effects.

We are in a cycle of birth and death and getting free from this cycle is the main goal (Moksha )of a person. You get free of this birth death cycle by attaining the real knowledge or spiritual wisdom.

EVERYBODY will be resurrected from the grave. Y will receive a NEW body. These bodies will be indestructible. Those that are saved will go to heaven and those that are not saved will go to hell. You will feel pain in hell beyond description. the pain that you will feel will be physical and emotional and spiritual. When the Bible says that you wil be tormented in hell if you are unsaved, then the Bible says what it means. Personally, I do not want to take any chances and in up in hell----no sane person would. therefore, I have done God's will and accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior and I serve God daily.

I think that "hell" being a fiery place of torment is made up - in that instance I agree with you - but I am still a Christian. I think that the little verses they use to support the claim of torment after death are taken out of context. I don't think that God would do that to his creation. I don't think God's original purpose with Adam and Eve ever changed. When Adam sinned, his punishment was death itself - nowhere does it say Adam went to hell and is being tormented as we speak. His original purpose was to live forever - by sinning he brought about death - if anyone were to go to this fiery place of torment, I would think that the person who even caused that option to become available to humanity would be there - but no, Adam get's death. And the bible says the dead are conscious of nothing at all - it's like sleeping.
-Genesis 2:17- if you eat of the tree...you will positively die;
-Genesis 3:19 - dust you are and to dust you will return.;
-Ecclesiastes 9:5- living are conscious that they will die, but dead are conscious of NOTHING AT ALL."
-Romans 6:23- The wages sin pays is death. -note here, it doesn't say hell - or torment .
-John 11:11 - when Jesus, here on earth, found out that his friend Lazarus had died, he said to his disciples that Lazarus was resting or sleeping.
He then went and resurrected Lazarus from death -

as a Jew I'd like to say that JEW4MESSIAH is speaking on behalf of a very very small fracture of Jews who are very very OFF THEIR ROCKERS

you cant be a Jew and believe that jesus was, is and will ever be the messiah. the two religions cannot coexist together.

I respect Christians opinions and views and think that as long as they believe in a higher power and want to lead a moral life then that's super. But I will not stand by as this JEW4MESSIAH tarnishes the name of Jews everywhere.

I hope no one here thinks that his skewed views hold any weight at all here or in the Jewish religion.

We're told that at the resurrection our bodies will be raised from the grave.

But perhaps the whole thing is symbolic. What if the "burning in the fires of hell" simply mean that we will be completely destroyed?

try faith -it will help-understand the true love of Jesus!

and in hell Jesus says there is gnashing of teeth and torment forever and weeping, (Revelation 19-22nd chapters both heaven and hell described-for salvation in Jesus.)

you cant weep or have teeth if you dont have a body-but Jesus made the way so we dont have to go-once we believe-when you stand before Jesus either with him as your best friend-or with excuses-you will know Jesus isnt ignorant

I happen to be a Jew that has come to know the Messiah Jesus=a covenant is a formal agreement made between two
Judaism began a covenant with God

God due to our rejection of the covenant made a new covenant -Jeremiah 31:31 ff verse 31 and following
"I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel not like the one I made with Moses.. and you will personally be my people and I will be your God."

how we get the new covenant=

simply believe in the Messiah as promised in Isaiah too.

in a triunity -like h2o -water steam & ice but always h2o God is always God he just has 3 forms
"Let us make man in our image" Genesis-plurality of the God head -Echod is a compound one. Elohim =God is plural

Messianic Jews -are Jews that have come to know the Messiah-as promised in the Jewish scriptures, Isaiah 9:6 Unto us a child is born a son is given, and he will be mighty God, and the prince of peace.

we believe the Jewish scriptures that God would manifest himself in a person, and also as Spirit two as our Scriptures tell.

Other Jewish people reject Isaiah and Moses too required blood sacrifice to make atonement for sins Leviticus 17:11

Isaiah 52:13-53:12 " He will be exalted. To whom is the arm of the Lord revealed? He will lay down his life to make atonement for our sins."

with the temple gone and no way other than the promised messiah to be forgiven from sins-some made new religions, based on the teachings of men and still called some of them Judaism. pray for me and them.

now Yeshua/Jesus is my Messiah, and best friend-because I believed Moses, Isaiah and Him. Messiah says, "I love you and knock on your heart door to come in, deliver from sin (even one lie) and be your friend when you ask me in." Revelation 1:1 & 3:19&20th verses

I prayed "Show me the truth."
then "I believe you Messiah, I am sorry for my sins, come into my heart and help me, be my friend, amen."

Life is wonderfull now having the Messiah in my heart-I searched after my bar Mitzvah and finally believed my Jewish Scriptures and the Messiah.

have a great day and good question. yes we believe, David
