I was told that taking prenatal vitamins will help hair become healthy. Does anyone do this and has seen results?

I have been taking prenatal vitamins for over a year. My hair has been growing faster, it’s shiny, fuller, healthier and looks it. I get a lot of complements on how healthy it is. Don’t worry that the vitamins may be too potent. Your body will only use what it need and expel what it doesn’t. Doctors sometime prescribe prenatal vitamins if your body is depleted. My nails are a lot stronger also.

Biotin is the nutrient in the prenatal vitamins that make hair, skin and nails healthier. You can buy just the Biotin at Wal Mart or your local drug store. Wal Mart also has a supplement called Hair, Skin and Nails that has a lot of biotin along with other nutrients that aid hair skin and nails.

I read that it can take up to 6 months to see a difference, but that it does work.

That is true about the body only taking what vitamins it can use and expelling the rest. I've been told to take a two-a-day rather than a one-a-day because of that.

the extra calcium and B vitamins in prenatals can help your appearance. GNC actually makes several formulas specifically for healthy hair, skin, and nails. http://www.gnc.com/family/index.jsp?categoryId=2420533&cp=2618597

I took them when I was pregnant, and yes my hair and nails both looked so great. I no longer take them since they can cause upset stomach, I use a women's daily supplement now.
