Boxing, it seems, has had a long history of corruption. Be it from fixed fights, bribed judges and referees, or having a fighter take a dive. So in answer to your question, yes, there is some truth to your belief.

Everyone has some bias, it is difficult to overcome your personal feelings. However, the judges are looking at the fight from 3 different views, so they may not see the same action as each other, especially when the fighters are against the ropes or in a corner.
