I have already seen it and it is very interesting.
The Church does not avoid this question and there is no doubt that there have been bad Catholics and even bad Popes.
We do not hold that Popes are perfect, we hold that their teachings on faith and morals are. But they are still human and make judgmental mistakes outside of the official teachings.
Watch it, you might be surprised at how much it was exaggerated because of Politics of the time. (some things never change)
Good Luck and God Bless!

Catholics are well acquainted of such.Protestants or Evangelists may be more interested because they want to build their own Inquisitions to add more on the current Black legend for America, now that Muslims and Jews are a Power out of hand in the officially"tolerant" US.
Hey,the Military can have Guantanamo, why not the Church their locales for God's tribunals?Don't need to be in the US
Fact is not always told, that most High Ranking Church members at that time (for a few decades previously)were converted Jews themselves, and obsession to join the Corps of the Inquisition seemed high among them for some reason....where they usually excelled.
Spaniards (catholics)then as today, prefer to have their bloody fun in sunny Bullfights rings.

Newcatholic is a misinformed one at that. Inquisition killed and tortured tens of thousands of "non believers" and rival Christian sects. The politics of the time was, all pegan religions were the work of the devil, but in reality pegan religions were taking catholic followers along with their money. The Catholic church did what they did based on greed.

I'll watch it just to see if they blame the whole thing on the Church, or whether they will blame government officials for using the Church for their political agendas. Luckily, the Church has learned from the past and threatens clergymen with excommunication if they seek political office (see Ernesto Cardenal).
Thank God for the separation of Church and state.

While atheists may think that the inquisition is the ultimate black mark against catholics, they probably think of it with pride. After all, they eliminated those horrible heretics, which are far worse than infidels.

I am catholic and have seen it same old news, simply a subject from the past that many will jump all over so that they will have something to criticize, It is amazing how media and propaganda continues to create controversy and violence in our society today.

As Christians generally prefer to avoid all the destruction their faith has cause I am sure there will be scant few. Unless of course this is revisionist Christian teachings blaming the Inquisition on "fake" Christians.

Good question.
I came across the program last night. It looks like there are two one-hour programs on. I DVR'd them immediately. They should be interesting.
This is a four-part series. There will be two parts tonight and two more parts next Wednesday.

Nobody can possibly answer your question. There is no way that anyone can possibly know how many Catholics will be doing this or that. Or Baptists, or Lutherans, or jews, Muslims, left-handed Shintos, one-eyed Mormons, etc.
