it does sound strange, but I think it was wonderful for that woman who was alive but whose face was completely gone. I don't see what else they were supposed to do - basically her whole face was gone. It's amazing what modern medicine can do!

Face transplantation is an evolving science. The first person to undergo this was a lady from france. I think there are some ethical issues that remain to be seen. I think that in her case, she met with some unfortunate circumstances and her face was destroyed by a dog. I think most would agree with transplantation as an option for people like her who are disfigured in some way just as transplantation is ok for other body organs. If done for other reasons, then obviously there might be some concerns.

The body runs a high risk of infection and rejecting face transplants, but it can be successfully perfomed like the case of the French woman whose face was ravaged by a dog.

it is wonderful for people who have been horribly disfigured, but a tremendous amount of psychological trauma occurs along with it, and the patient should receive strong psychiatric support during the process.

Would a different face change who you are?
Unless cosmetic surgery is needed, it would be best
to keep what nature gave you.
