The thing with Arabic is that many of their words don't have direct translations into other languages. Therefore, to be read in it's purest form is to read it in Arabic.
Ex. The word 'Rabb' in Arabic has no direct translation into English, so the word 'Lord' is used in translations.

Definitely do both. Each activity will support the other. And how about studying some Arabic. Even a few basics of vocab and grammar will help you to gain more from your reading. I learnt Arabic from scratch over four years and was delighted to find I could read and understand much of the Koran. Any effort you put into learning Arabic you are sure never to regret

There is a spiritual benefit of reading the quran even if you dont understand the meaning, but 100% sure that you reading it the right way.
Reading it with understanding (English or Persian) would however make you a better muslim.
There was a story of a man who didnt know how to read and had love and fear of Allah. When he died they tried to get out his finger which was stuck in his mouth - after finally doing so, found honey on his finger.
He used to run his finger along the words of the Quran without understanding the meaning
How fortunate are we to be educated enough to get the traslation of the Holy Quran - leaving alone able to read

If you are really interested in philosophy and human nature with full reasoning try to read a copy of Bagavat Gita with good translation in your language. Languages doesnt' matter, what matters most is the understanding of the scriptures.
