Yes, usually they give them something so they are armed. That is very unsafe!

depends if it is minimal custody issue, and is a perk for inmates who behave, I for one really do not see a huge danger to your husband, most likely the inmates on this detail just want to do there time and get out,
if they escape add more time and most likely will be moved to a higher level of security prison loosing many freedoms,

Every correctional facility has a ratio of guards to inmates. Your husband should know this ratio as an employee. If he feels unsafe in this environment, his commanding officer needs to be made aware of the situation. Don't worry, this won't make him look weak or afraid. On the contrary, he will look more responsible in his duties.

Wrong, and unsafe. Unless he belongs to some type of organization, or a member of a union, he does not have any type of legal grievance procedure.
Unfortunately, hazards of the job.

no, his is normal in most states if you are dealing with mim custody inmates, even in the walls he is not armed in the cell blocks with dozens of the high max inmates.
If they start to escate he is to report it,

It makes me wonder if they value your husbands life. A criminal is a criminal, and they long for freedom, same as the rest of us.

I don't know all the circumstances here, but it sounds wrong. Maybe he should ask someone about it.

I think its up to your husband to discuss this what he perceives as a hole in the process with his superiors and not have his wife tattle tell on them like we are going to storm the prison and make them do it right next time.
