As a devout Christian, which misconceptions about your religion would you want to clarify? I am sure almost everyone is annoyed by one thing or the other that other people take for granted but do not realize that it is fabricated.
It must pain you when people comment on religion as if they have spent their lives studying it but all they know is the popular belief that "it is all fiction".
Brief, intelligent answers would be welcome.
Cheers & God bless.

The sabbath being Sunday is pretty lame. Anyone who reads the bible knows its actually friday Sundown to Saturday sundown, but christians have a tendency to go with incorrect tradition instead of fact. Constantine changed the sabbath to Sunday in order to make it easier to convert pagan, who worshipped their fake gods on Sunday. At that time of course, bibles weren't available to read, so nobody even knew that Sunday wasn't the sabbath. A couple of hundred years later, the church came up with the "Jesus rose on Sunday" as the excuse for changing the sabbath, when people started to question it. "Remember the sabbath and keep it holy" does not mean, "or change it to Sunday if its more convenient".

It also annoys me that people assume all christians are anti-gay rights. I don't condone it, but on the other hand, is not letting gays marry gonna make them go straight? Of course not. Basically, I have my owns sins to deal with and don't have the time or inclination to run around judging others.

The worst misconception has to be the fact that sin is acceptable and harmless fun, as if God has changed and sin no longer offends Him, however God is the same yesterday, today and forever and is mightily offended by this attitude that is really very prevalent, even Christians suffer from this misconception and this is not a good sign.

I find it hard to take when people generalize all christians... I do not think like anyone else. I believe God is love and my only job is to love EVERYONE, no judging, no hate... just LOVE. Yet, all I read from those who do not agree with me is hatred. A lot of times I am told that I am a hater because I am a self proclaimed christian, yet I find no problem with people picking any religion they want, or doing whatever they want, I do not concern myself with anything but loving them, yet I am thought of harshly... GOD IS LOVE OF EVERYONE.

So many seem to think we preach a gospel of death and separation from God when we are actually preaching life. I also cringe when I hear people say that sin is allowable, as in the case of your first answer or by those that would claim to be Christians in one breath and saying they are spiritualists in the next. It's no wonder so many have such a confused view of Christianity.

The misconceptions about the Catholic Church are clarified over and over in these forums, but non-Catholics just are not listening.

You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him drink.

Those who have eyes should see; those who have ears should listen.

sort of a wierd analogy once you think of of "i'm the vine, ye are the branches." As for a Protestant "mess," it somewhat is fractured and distinctive, yet i does no longer call it a large number. it somewhat is only human beings loose to decide for what they desire to have self assurance, from one end of the spectum to the different. to no longer enable that freedom is narrow minded, for my section. that's what apologetics are for, if it is your bailywick. Fundamentalists are "decrease classification individuals?" Granted, it somewhat is "low church," yet no ought to insult human beings via worship form. Mass itself has develop into extra modern-day in spots, no longer something incorrect with that the two. As for what i think of of the Pontiff's statements, i do no longer suggestions that he pronounced what he pronounced. If he desires to attraction to a bolder line between Catholic and Protestant than what grew to become into there earlier, it somewhat is effective -- yet i think of all and sundry, consisting of the media, desires to take it the main outstanding way. he's only giving Catholics permission to be Catholic, and that i can perceive with that.

The message is clear. Whether one chooses to accept it or not is another matter.
