Just so you know, im only 15. Im just sorry for you people who will have to spend eternity in a firey pit of hell and will be able to look across and see everyone in Heaven but won't have a chance of getting to Heaven. I feel that Ive been through a bit of things in my life that God has helped me through, especially when it felt like no one was there for me and he was the only one there who kept me strong, especially when the devil was trying to get to me and I really felt that there was no point in life. I try to witness to people as much as I can so that when the rapture happens people wont have to spend eternity in Hell because that would be the worst thing ever.

Ashley,
I don't understand their reasons either. My daughter was raised in a loving christian home and had a close relationship with God for many years now she says she doesn't believe in Him any more. She got caught up with the wrong crowd when we moved here, got in to drugs and drinking became a addict then had a eating disorder. The young group at the church she was so involved in turned their backs on her so that made her stop going to church all together. Then her grandmother, my mom died which she was very close too a very fine christian woman who everyone loved. We all thought God would heal her even Kelly so I think when she died she got more mad at God and quit believing all together. That what I think happens sometimes to people who become atheists. But in my heart of hearts I truly believe my daughter will one day find her faith again and believe. Please pray for her and her husband Brain too. Good Luck.

I am a Christian, but I think I understand why many Atheists feel the way they do.
For me, it is hard to understand why there are so many Gods. What I mean by this is, think of how many religions there are. Is Christianity the best? Is Muslim? Hindu? Buddhist?
The fact is, there are millions and millions of people that believe in a higher power, one way or another. I cannot say with certainty that there is a God and no Allah. Nor can I say there is Buddha, but no God.
Therefore, I believe that everyone is entitled to their own personal beliefs - mainly being that there is a HIGHER POWER to believe in, not necessarily being God or anyone/thing else.
Having said that, I do believe in evolution. There is just way too much science which proves it. Many people feel that because of this, it is not possible for a God to exist. But I am not one of them.
I think the bottom line is: faith makes people feel secure. For those that don't want to believe in a higher power, well, that's their perogative. For me personally, I was raised a Christian, and I will always be a Christian. But I also believe that science is behind our existence. An oxymoron you say? Possibly, but I'm sure there are other like me.

I have answered this many times, but you asked nicely so I will explain again. I was a practicing christian for many years. One day I realized I was forcing myself to believe in things I knew were not true. I sat down and really thought about this. I knew that I was not being true to myself, so I became an atheist. I have no hatred of God or christians. As for proof, asking for proof that God doesn't exist is the same as asking for proof that the Easter Bunny doesn't exist. The burden of proof is on the person claiming that they do exist. I do not mean that disrespectfully.

I do believe in God. I believe God is Nature.
I reject the Christian vision of God. It is perverse and as such, a reflection of mankind with all its contradictions, base instincts and regrettable tendencies.
There is no irrefutable proof of the existence, or lack thereof, of God, only smoking guns: for example, why did African, Pacific people and the Native Americans have polytheistic religions in ancient times? Why weren't they part of the fold?
Jesus was persecuted by the Romans when he shook up the then prevalent belief system of multiple gods and replaced it with a central, more efficient deity of control, God.
Jesus Christ was a visionary human being. Son of God? Hard to say. I believe Nietzsche may have been on to something when he speculated that His apostles removed His body to create the myth of divine ressurection and thus cement the foundation of a new religion.
There is no proof either way. That's the famous connumdrum of religion.
Christianity has now become politicized and is most unChristlike with its "hatred for entertainment" philosphies of exclusionism and judgement. Churches should immediately loose their "tax exempt" status and perceived as the political mechanism that they are.
You modern Christians are literally tearing your religion apart with your slavish devotions to such false prophets as we regularly see in the media.

I think many an athiest don't believe because God hasn't delivered for them according to them, as like a child makes an impossible list for Santa claus. I think they feel God deserted them because of some major calamity in their lives. Some "WON"T" believe that God will perform miracles because the state of mind is threatened. Many can only believe in science that man is the only person that can do it all, knowledge was all-powerful enough for them. For those who won't believe I'm curious as to what your life has been like.

Because the Bible is a big book of lies and fairy tales.
Deuteronomy was faked by scribes under King Josiah in the 8th Century BCE. It's a complete fraud.
Christians love to quote Isaiah chapters 7 and 9, which they claim as prophecies of Jesus, but they deliberately skip chapter 8, where the kid that Isaiah is actually talking about is born. Just more deception and lies.
Education also has quite a bit to do with it, but you have none so you wouldn't understand that.

No you don't understand, do you?
I can only speak for myself here. Personally I just don't see sufficient evidence for the existence of a God or gods - particularly a God in the sense of an organised religion.
It's nothing to do with 'hate' or 'not getting something I want', it's just a rational choice made upon the lack of evidence to support a divine being.

how anyone can say there is no proof is beyond me... look at trees, the intricate and detailed pieces of nature, people, etc and prove it to me that science alone did all of that. There is no way that all of that, each minute detail just "happened" by way of explosion or whatever other theory you believe. look at the miracle of babies and birth. those two things alone give me enough reason to believe God created it all. How all of those cells can come together to form a perfect little baby is definately of God. He is real and someday we won't have to debate this any longer....thank God!!!

I think for each of us it was something different.
Some people are born into Atheist families so just like with Christians....it's handed down.
For me I just started having doubts about God, the Bible etc.
After a few years of trying to continuing to believe it was not longer rational for me. It didn't make sense....it didn't add up.
I don't hate God.....because I don't believe there is a God.
I don't "hate" anybody.

if they just hated God, than they wouldn't be athiest.
sometimes a lot of bad things happen, and people say that if God exsisted that wouldn't have happened.
but more often than not, they just see that there is no tangible PROOF that God exsists.
I am a Christian, but I can understand why people wouldn't believe in God.
