Neither - the person most likley to murder someone is a secular fanatic. The person least likely to murder someone is a religious humanist.
If you stop using labels for people and think about what the words mean, then you may start to see your prejudices.

Somebody I know according to statistics and seeing as I do not know any religious fanatics i would be left with a secular humanist as my only other option in your question.

A religious fanatic. A secular humanist wouldn't have a motive-whereas the fanatic could invent all kinds of crazy reasons for killing someone.

Well, if I may speak for the Atheist Wing of Al Queda - we're just waiting until Microsoft comes out with a Space Shuttle Flight Simulator.
Then - we strike!
Boeing are so, like, 20th century.

@ Phil4JC: If that was satirical, my apologies. If not, though - has it occurred to you that a fanatic's god may be entirely happy with the killing? See 9/11 for further details.

I have not seen anyone presenting statistics about this matter, so I can only tell what I have seen. Religious fanatics have unbridled emotions I have seen many times. My oldest sister is a Christian fanatic, and she has tried to kill me somewhat slyly. She says whatever she and her favorites do is fine, and whatever our kid sister and I do is sinful. Such people are twisted and believe they are priveleged to do anything at all, even if the Bible forbids it.

I would have to say a religious fanatic because they can twist God's words into whatever they want and feel justified. Just look at followers of Islam and look at the Christians who murdered innocent women at the Salem Witch Trials.

I would say it's a matter of opinion. And it depends which "religous fanatic" you're referring to. I am a non-Denominational Christian, and the differences between what I believe and what the church in Rome believes are not only vast but also many.
