* yes i agree, Lockheed Martin is the prime contractor
Lockheed Martin bought General Dynamics/GD (GD made the F16) before the final winner of JSF was announced
* I think several sub-contractors participate the JSF, including BAe (British Aerospace), I think about 2-4 european aircraft makers participated.
* from the start i know Boeing's Phantom Works X-32 looks like a loser, the "under the nose" air intakes looks like an A-7 with a happy face (Sorry Boeing). Although X-32's nose and front fuselage plus the variable chamber looks impressive, looks like a complex aerodynamics & structure design. Near deadline, Boeing also changes the rear configuration of X-32, which in turn makes X-32 more maneuverable, but less stealthy, but also show that... looks like Boeing couldn't make up their mind on designing the JSF (Again, sorry Boeing).
