Jesus Christ is the only middle man between God & man. Catholic priests are trying to take the place of Jesus Christ.

John 14:6 "Jesus said to him (Thomas), "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one coes to the father except through Me."

As for blaspheming the Holy Spirit, Luke 12 :10 "And anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it will be forgiven him; but to him who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit, it will not be forgiven."

It is God who forgives us. But God has the right to forgive us any way He wishes, does He not? Scripture describes the way God has chosen to forgive us. Jesus breathed upon the apostles, the first priests of His Church, indicating a special annointing and special empowerment with the Holy Spirit, and then told them, "whose sins YOU FORGIVE, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you hold retained, they are held retained". So, why would you ask "who" gave priests the power to forgive sins??

One thing for sure it is NOT from God because only God can forgive our sins. Who gives him the right then? The Church and the silly people.

Well Jesus said to his disciples for those whose sins you forgive they are forgiven and those whose sin you retain they are retained. Although I think this means that for those sins you personally can't forgive then it sticks in your own head and those that you forgive you can let go of. So believe whatever. Don't take the bible so literally

The vatican.

A sinful man can never absolve someone else's sins.

The whole, babylonian-born practice is just silly at best.

They should probably stop perpetrating the enormous lie that the priests of their religion are "vicars" of Christ on earth.

Christ is His own representative. He works through His people on earth to keep Satan's pie-hole shut.

we give the priest the right to forgive us. we have given away our power in the divine relationship. That is one of the reasons why I don't follow Religion as an institution. I have my own beliefs.

We are to confess our sins to God not to a man. Churches that promote this follow other things that are not biblical.
