CS Lewis talks about it in this way in his book "Mere Christianity". No father (God or otherwise) ever existed before his child. He may have been a person, but he was not a FATHER until he has a child. So his position as a father and his child's position as a son began at the time same. One position can not preceed the other.

If you read scripture, you will find that it teaches that the son was begotten long before he took on human flesh as Jesus. He was already in existence before the rest of the universe was created. But there came a time when the son laid aside for a period his diety, and became a servant as a human being.

During that time, he used only the abilities that are available to any other human: prayer, fasting, the scriptures, faith, the infilling of the Holy Spirit, etc. So during that time, he was least then his Father God.

He had to show that it was possible for a human being to live a perfect life without divine powers or special intervencion from God. Otherwise how could he require that from us? So it was necessary for him, as Jesus, to live a perfect life that was fully pleasing to the Father. Then, having done that, he was able to offer that life in exchange for ours.

As the very definition of God requires him to be everywhere at once, to be God (whether as one person or as three persons) he would still had to have been both in heaven on the throne and on earth in human form at the same time. If not, then he is not God, because he would not be omnipresence.

Then, you get the Holy Spirit, which is the presence of God that indwells the hearts of those who are born again. And like before, to be God, he would have to be able to be both in heaven and in the human heart at the same time, or he is not omnipresence, and then would not be God.

Finally you get the infamous "My God, My God, Why have you forsaken me". Hopefully you have actually read the Bible, and realize that is a quote from Psalms 22, written 1000 years before the crucifixion. That entire Psalm is full of prophecies about the events of the crucifixion - that they would pierce his hands and feet, the way they would mock him, that he would thrist, that the soliders would gamble for his robe, that he would be buried in a borrowed, rich man's tomb, etc. When Jesus spoke those words, it was not a cry of dispair, but rather every male child was required to memory this Psalm, and on hearing the opening line be able to recite the rest.

As Jesus hung there, he quoted that opening line so that every man standing there would be reminded of the Psalms, and all the events it prophecied, and be able to see them fulfilled that day in front of them. He was calling there attention to the greatest event in the history of mankind, so that they would see and understand what was happening.

Friend, I say this as humble as I can, I once was a trinity person, But within 8 weeks of my salvation God showed me the truth bout it. Now you are claiming there is 3 persons in the Godhead, How wrong can you get, Answer some of the question I am going to answer for you, You say God is a person, That is wrong, God is,was & will be a spirit, & the bible says there is ONLY ONE Spirit. Then you got jesus Christ as God, Let me ask you, did God ever die,, NO, not even for those 3 days, can you see God being dead, do you think satan would have llowed Jesus to rise again, NO, God never die anytime, But the sacrifical lamb of God did, Now you say that God & Jesus send the Holy Ghost down to earth after Jesus went up to heaven, You need to make up your mind, If Jesus sent the Holy Ghost then why would God need to do it & visa versa,, I could write a 1000 pages letter on this subject. Now listern very closely God is ONE, You have God as the creator, Then you have God in his Son, Now listern close here, When did the HOLY GHOST FILL JESUS BODY, at age 30 & not until then, & when the spirit of God came to dwell in his Son, Youi then have God as the redeemer, Then on the day of Pentacost, you have the same Holy Ghost coming down in the upper room to fill those people & 3000 more.& the Holy Ghost is that spirit of a comforter, So you have God as 3 manifestations, God the Creator, God as the redeemer in his son, & God as the 3rd manifestations, as the Holy Ghost. But all is done by the ONE SPIRIT OF GOD

The Bible is like a beautiful puzzle, if you have all the right pieces. Satan, the father of the lie, has put in pieces that don’t belong in that beautiful picture, and because of this, the Bible is hard to understand. Example: The Bible portrays a beautiful picture of the resurrection hope. Satan, right from the beginning told Eve a lie that she will not die. That lie has made its way right down to our day, the immortal soul. If we have an immortal soul then we have no need of a resurrection. Now take that piece out and the picture comes clear. There are many more pieces that don’t belong in the Bible and till these pieces are taken out we cannot and will never understand the Bible.

Sweetie, try going to sunday school and preaching. Let someone explain it to you. Sit with an elder of the church and have a bible study. Because you are confused and the Lord didn't cause that. You've allowed satan to come in and taint the word. The word makes perfect sense as to why God sent his son and then he rose back up. Your problem isn't that you want to know the truth it is that you want to mock God. And that is something you don't do. Bible says God will not be mock. (cause he will get ya!)

The word "trinity" is not found in the Bible, but the concept is. All cults deny the Trinity. Christians claim it is true. But, what is it? Is it an office held by three gods (Mormonism) or a pagan concept borrowed from ancient cults (as the Jehovah's Witnesses teach)? The Oneness Pentecostal believers teach that God is not a Trinity but is really one person who takes three forms. So, which of these is true? None.

The Trinity is the doctrine that there is only one God in all creation, all time, and all places. This one God exists as three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person is not the same person as the other, yet there are not three gods, but one.

The Bible has many references to a plurality concerning the nature of God's existence. Consider the following verses as an example: Gen. 19:24, "Then the Lord rained on Sodom and Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven." Notice that the Lord rained FROM the Lord out of heaven. Amos 4:10-11 says, "I sent a plague among you after the manner of Egypt; I slew your young men by the sword along with your captured horses, And I made the stench of your camp rise up in your nostrils; Yet you have not returned to Me, declares the Lord [YHWH]. 11I overthrew you as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, And you were like a firebrand snatched from a blaze; Yet you have not returned to Me, declares the Lord." Notice here that the Lord is talking and says, "I overthrew you as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah." Sometimes when I show these verses to Jehovah's Witnesses (without saying anything else), they often respond with, "Are you trying to show me the Trinity?" I then say, "You got the Trinity out of that? Wow!"

In the New Testament there are several verses that show God's plurality. Here 's two. Matt. 28:19, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit," Note that there is one name and three persons. Also, 2 Cor. 13:14, "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all." These kinds of verses, and others (see http://www.carm.org/doctrine/trinityplural.htm for more) are part of the means by which the doctrine of the Trinity is derived.

When we "theologians" use the word "person," we are not saying that God is three individual beings walking around who are actually one being. That would be a contradiction. Instead, we define a person as having self awareness, identity, can speak, love, grieve, etc. These are attributes of personhood and we see all of these attributes, and more, in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. If you want to see a chart that exemplifies this, go to http://www.carm.org/doctrine/trinity.htm and look around.

The Trinity is a very important doctrine within Christianity. It is the correct view of the Godhead and needs to be affirmed by Christians. Of course, the cults deny the Trinity, often misrepresent it as teaching three gods, or that it is an office, etc. But the truth is that the Trinity doctrine is derived from Scripture and is unique to Christianity.

Finally, the Trinity is important because only in the doctrine of the Trinity can we have the true incarnation of God (the Word become flesh as the Son - John 1:1,14). Only the God-man Jesus can offer a sacrifice sufficient to appease the infinite Father in heaven. No mere man can do this. No mere angel. Instead, God the Word, in His grace, added to Himself human nature (Phil. 2:5-8) in order to bear our sins in His body on the cross (1 Pet. 2:24) so that He might become sin on our behalf (2 Cor. 5:21). This way, He atoned for our sins by the shedding of His blood (Heb. 9:22) and guaranteed that all who trust in Him will receive everlasting life (John 3:16). Because of what Jesus did on the cross, we might then have eternal life that is received by grace through faith (Eph. 2:8). Amen to that!

I'm on Primoa's coat tails here... goodness, what did all of that babble just prove? God's word is eternal, flawless, and void of contradictions... that's what I believe. You, not so much. But if you're truly attempting to draw people from God, come up with a better argument, maybe something a little more understandable.

Just what is your question? There is one God he IS and always will be the Father the Son and the Holy Ghost all rolled into one. He is everything.

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

Considering the dogma or doctrine of the trinity is largely a an early Catholic invention, along with purgatory and hell, I'd do a bit more research on where these beliefs came from before just accepting them as most Christians do.
