I had 16 radiation treatments over 3 weeks. I had a wicked sore throat [that was the target area]. I also got shingles as a side effect. But hey, all of that is better then cancer. I still don't have hair in the radiation area, I'm doing the comb-over! It doesn't hurt at all, it's just like a long x-ray.

Hi Linda~ I am currently in radiation therapy and I am having 1 spot on my neck and 3 spots on my back radiated. Today was treatment #3 of 14 consecutive treatments. I am on the mchine for about 15 minutes total. While the treatment is happening, I do feel a slight burning sensation on my neck and throat, but nothing too serious. They have given me a medicine that helps the burning - somewhat simular to acid reflux. My back has absolutely no side effects. If anything, I feel better. The pain that I had been feeling has eased after just 3 treatments!!
It really isn't horrible and I am very happy to be seeing results so quickly. I pray you will have the same success that I have!
Good Luck!
Jen

I had 35 radiation treatments. The only problem that I had was it gave me a 2nd degree burn but I got excellent treatment for that and you would never know I had the burn. I felt fine during the treatments it just got me down a little but I had good support from Family & Friends. I beat my cancer and feel great. Just look after yourself and eat 3 good meals a day to keep up your strength.

I have just recently finished my radiotherpy for breast cancer i never felt a thing during treatment which lasted about 10 minutes or had any side effects, i had 15 treatments. but about four weeks after and now (10 weeks) later i get very tired and irritable. I stayed in oak house at christies in manchester for three weeks and it was fantastic therapy, we were given make overs, aromotherpy, massages and went to various art classes. If you live in the north west i would recommend staying in. It was like a mini holiday

I had 4 photon and 40 proton over nine weeks.
I felt a bit tired in the first (photon) and last weeks but the day after the last treatment I was able to fly transatlantic alone.
(Watched like a hawk by the airport staff in case I set the alarms off - I didn't.)

My son had one treatment a day for 6 days. He felt pretty lousy after the first treatment. He was then given something to take, just before each treatment, for nausea. After that he was fine.
