I know that some churches believe that Christians can still heal the sick in the same was as Jesus did along with his disciples, while others don't and that the days of miracles passed after the last disciple died.
Anyway what do you think and why?

Jesus and the early disciples healed by the power of the Holy Spirit. The power of the Holy Spirit is still available to Christians now (Acts 1:8). The spiritual gifts of healings operate in many parts of the world today. Men of God under the anointing of the Holy Spirit are performing signs, wonders and miracles following the preaching of the word of God. I have experienced divine physical healings three times in my life. Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit are the same yesterday, today and forever.

Yes I do and I'm not christian. The point is that the people have to believe they will be healed.

My brother had told me a couple of passages a few weeks ago when we were talking of this very thing. Oh the passages didn't say we could... it was that we were talking about how the belief is what usually gives people the hope that they need to heal. We were talking of healing that way.

Something about.... Jesus had a Roman soldier ask him to heal his son and Jesus said basically, go home it's done. Then there was one where a woman wanted to be healed and she touched the hem of Jesus' clothing and he said she would be healed by her faith. I could have the last one a bit off.

Anyway the point of my answer is that faith and belief that someone can heal you goes a long way. It's not all there is to it I don't think but I do believe it is a huge thing. Like cancer, when people truly decide that they aren't going to let cancer beat them they usually win that battle against it. They self heal and don't understand it.

I think Christ's entire point was that it wasn't him doing the healing. Haven't read the Bible in a long time, because I don't follow that path, but I seem to remember something along the lines of "it is by your faith that you have been saved." So he wasn't asking people to believe in miracles, he was asking people to have faith in his teachings.

For what it is worth, it is my observation that people who have deep and abiding faith or an unshakable belief system, no matter what their spiritual tradition, are more at peace and better able to accept and deal with the big issues like injury, illness and death. There is also the body-mind connection. In the years that I have had a strong spiritual practice I have also been physically healthier and less prone to illness.

Believing that health or happiness can come from external sources -- money, fame or someone who can conveniently "heal" you -- is delusional. Love and compassion bring happiness and and end to suffering. However you generate those -- theistic, atheistic, non-theistic or whatever path -- this is what heals.

There is the LAYING IN OF HANDS that seems to work for some, not others, I think if a person is meant to be healed then so be it, if not well this its not to be/ Belief has a lot to do with it to. There is always the odd miracle. And I certainly believe in the power of positive thinking, mind over matter etc., and that is not always strictly for the Christians you know.

I just went several rounds with one person about "can you prove a miracle?" The point that I was making with her was that miracles require faith. When Jesus healed another person many times he had said, "With your faith you are healed." He passed on gifts to other people, it is called being annointed. Paul who was not one of His disciples became annointed pretty much against his will at first. Paul then passed the annointing on to other people as well. Those who believed that they were of God the annointing worked, those who believed the gifts were thier gifts, the annointing didn't work.

That is the extreme basics of most of the churches that believe in healing. I go to one of those churches.

I have seen a man (that I had known for years) who had polio as a child and one of his legs never grew), had his leg grow 1-1/2"! A man who was extremely nearsighted literally overnight had his vision repaired. I can tell you stories of my own healings before and after I went to this church.

Christians CANNOT HEAL! GOD HEALS! We pray and lay hands on other people for healing, sometimes God says yes and other times no.

YES,BUT YOU MUST BELIEVE, THE PERSON ANOINTED WITH THE HOLY GHOST CAN PERFORM THESE HEALING, IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST.
Jesus chooses his disciples
M'r:3:13: And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him.
M'r:3:14: And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach,
M'r:3:15: And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:
M'r:3:16: And Simon he surnamed Peter;
M'r:3:17: And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder:
M'r:3:18: And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus, and Simon the Canaanite,
M'r:3:19: And Judas Iscariot, which also betrayed him: and they went into an house.
M'r:3:20: And the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.
M'r:3:21: And when his friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself.
GOD STILL HAVE HIS ANOINTED DOING HIS WORK,BE
CAREFUL WHO LAYS THEIR HAND ON YOU,FOR THERE ARE MANY FALSE HEALERS.FOR I AM HIS WITNESS.

I think our favorite Hippy did things like give people love, hope and use alternative meds for common ailments of the day, used home remedies and became a "healer" just like we can with ourselves today

leprousy back then was a umbrella term and we know today you can use tea tree oil to cure many kinds of "leprous" diss eases

much of that time's social ills were thanks to lack of knowledge of preventative meds and foods we have available and can heal self, others by eating and living smart

live wise and remove the need for miracles...besides, we see small miracles daily but fail to call it so
