Use the OTC lice products every1- 2 weeks, or as directed, until you're sure they're all gone. The shorter your hair, the easier the nits will be to remove. They have to be pulled all the way out to the end of the hair to be removed. If you are a male, a closely cropped cut is best for now. A shaved head will guarantee you get rid of them. Also be sure to check your eyebrows and lashes. If they get into you facial hair, see a doc. You will probably kill all the little buggers after repeat treatments. The eggs will hatch out, you need to treat these that hatch. They will eventually be gone with agressive treatment.

getting lice is embarrassing but as common as a cold
you could go to the health dept. and have a nurse remove the nits. if thats not an option, i guess you will have to just keep using "rid" or whatever otc
shampoo only kills the live ones. nits hatch i think every three or four days.
i got em and had the same prob. so i just kept washing in the rid.
good luck

You want to get the medicated shampoo with the little comb that is fine enough for you to remove some of the eggs attached. Also, you want to wash all your bedding and sheets, pillow cases, very good in hot water and bleach.

shampooing with regular shampoo WILL NOT get rid of head lice or the eggs. you have to treat it with a product designed to get rid of head lice and after 7 days the treatment has to be repeated. unfortunately, you're on your own as far as treatment, because salons are not allowed to treat lice. also, you're going to have to disinfect your entire house and clean your sheets in hot water and bleach. whatever you do, don't prolong treating it as it could get much worse

There are special combs out there that have very fine teeth that remove the nits. You have to clean your bedding in hot water and anything else that comes in contact with your head, including comb and brushes. Call the Doctor or Pharnacist and ask them for advice, please.

It's okay, don't feel embarrassed. Go to your pharmacist immediately to get medicated shampoo to get rid of the head lice.
