Hiya, Christian here. I love science. ALL science. I'm not opposed to any science. Science was one of my favorite subjects all through school. Even chemistry which I totally stunk at.
Catholics are not opposed to either evolution or the big bang theory. You know, in the original Hebrew text it says the world started with the "sound" of God. Bang is a sound isn't it?
Catholics use science to verify miracles. Not the Benny Hinn way of "look, you were in a wheel chair and now you can walk! It's a miracle." Catholics want proof from doctors that this person indeed could not walk before. Catholics want proof from doctors that this person indeed had Parkinson's before they were healed. Catholics want proof that the supposed tears of oil coming from some statue are actual oil and not somebody's bacon drippings. Which actually happens quite a lot.
Science RULES!
The bible does not say Adam and Eve were the "only" people on the earth. It just says that God created them. He may have created many other people as well. The message of THEIR story is of paramount importance to Christianity.
Genesis 4 has this to say:
14 Behold thou dost cast me out this day from the face of the earth, and I shall be hidden from thy face, and I shall be a vagabond and a fugitive on the earth: every one, therefore, that findeth me, shall kill me.
If his parents are the only other people on earth, why should Cain fear "every one?"
Genesis 4 also says:
16 And Cain went out from the face of the Lord, and dwelt as a fugitive on the earth, at the east side of Eden. 17 And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived, and brought forth Henoch: and he built a city, and called the name thereof by the name of his son Henoch.
If Adam and Eve only had Cain and Abel - then were did Cain's wife come from? She was already living in the land where Cain went to dwell in the east side of Eden.

christians do believe in science. in fact, the bible has scientific knowledge in it. We do believe in evolution, but not the theory of evolution by Charles Darwin, which have no proofs whatsoever that we evolve from monkeys.
As for big bang, well let me give you an illustration. Let's take a watch for example. take out the watch's components and place it in an empty box. shake it. the big bang theory says that BY CHANCE, one fine day you would come up with a watch, just by shaking it. do you believe it? what's the probability like?
And how many billion more times is a life more complicated than the most sophisticated computer right now? go read up about human bodies, it has a lot of amazing facts. it was God's wonderful creation..

I'm at the equal web page as you. Here is my concept on why they don't think in technology; it questions their ideals and in some way destroys the whole lot they base their existence on. I continually believed in technology. My religion got here after. I continually had the idea of Adam and Eve as a tale for God's energy, no longer of what genuine occurred. I imply what's so unsuitable in believing God made Evolution. If I was once God I could wish to take a seat again and watch matters evolve, develop and morph. I believe discounting technology may be very horrifying. My pal as soon as informed me she idea dinosaurs in which false. That men and women made up dinosaurs to disprove God. Give me a freaking holiday. She mentioned if Dinosaurs don't seem to be within the Bible then they don't exists, it is the Devils paintings. Scary I let you know. Scary!

There is Islamic concept of evolution, that can be understood, if you get clear idea about the difference in "creation and production".
Creation is a timeless space less abrupt act like an initial idea or concept, direct and medium less.
So the creation of each and every identity supposed to come/be part of this universe, was done in first six days at the start of this universe. All of us are of same age as created same time. Allah almighty said, "Be" and it was.
Production is a time, space and process based element that is dependent on different mediums and frames of reference. It gets started after the creation is already done. So we wait our time, place and space to get birth at/in.
So our birth is actually the process of production that is the result of an evolution and growth process along with the entire environment of this universe. As the environment is a huge living body continuously in evolution and growth.
Source(s):
Islam has summerised the concept of evolution when it is said in Holy qura'n, Allah almighty has made the man from dust/clay.
So the process of evolution from dust/clay to being a human is not described in detail in Islam

I believe that the universe was made by "Creation" and most believe by a God. But which God, because each religion has a different one and I believe that this is the cause of the majority of most wars. The different God's cause the wars.
You have only to look at the Suni's and Shiia fighting under the same God but with different Prophets.
My belief is that the universe was created by the physics of the universe.

I'm a theist of the Christian variety, but not a fundamentalist. I have no problem with any scientific theory. Evolution happened, and still does. The Big Bang happened. Global warming is happening. Christians who deny these things give me major headaches.

Let face it if the bible was the word of God and was meant to be a guide to the universe for man it would be far more complex than it is.
I guess since there is a new testament it will eventually be added to again to encompass all that man has learned thus far?
Well I will be waiting!

Science is all smoke and mirrors, everyone knows deep down inside that the only thing making everything click along is God's grand plan for each and every soul. It's a darn shame though that God is so sadistically inspired and has a truly warped sense of humour. Ah well, the price of being human I guess.

Well, I follow Science, mainly because it makes more sense and has more evidence to back it up. Also, I find it really intresting.
(I'm also Catholic, if that helps any.)
